Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Developer to support the team with a planned delivery of a strategic solution rebuild , covering a colleague on Family Leave for circa 9 month. As a Software Developer, you will play a key role in developing, enhancing, and supporting software solutions across the organisation. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality software, working both independently and collaboratively within agile teams to analyse business requirements, design and implement effective solutions, and provide ongoing support following implementation.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and users to understand system requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions. This includes undertaking systems analysis, assessing the impact of proposed changes, identifying risks and resource requirements, and producing detailed specifications and supporting documentation.

The role requires you to develop software in line with agreed standards, policies, and secure development practices, ensuring solutions are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales. You will also support the implementation of system changes, communicate updates to stakeholders, and provide post-implementation support to ensure a smooth user experience.

As part of the wider technology team, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support the evaluation of emerging technologies and software solutions, and share knowledge across the department. You may also play a mentoring role, helping to develop junior colleagues, supporting team planning activities, and promoting best practice development standards.

About You

The successful candidate should possess strong programming and software design skills, with experience of modern development frameworks, coding standards, design patterns, and database technologies, in particular Microsoft .NET. Experience of working within financial services or similarly regulated environments would be advantageous.

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject or possess equivalent experience and demonstrate a strong technical foundation in software development. You will have experience working in a mid-level or senior development role and be comfortable delivering solutions within Scrum or Agile environments.

You are a natural problem solver with strong analytical skills and the ability to assess technical and business impacts when designing solutions. You can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping to translate requirements into practical outcomes and ensuring risks and dependencies are understood. Being highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities, and able to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. You take pride in the quality of your work, pay close attention to detail, and proactively test and review solutions before delivery.

Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced developers would be welcomed, along with an enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and helping others succeed.
