Software Engineer
Verisk Careers | VeriskWe are looking for a Software Engineer to join a team building production services, APIs, and data pipelines on AWS, with a growing focus on AI-assisted delivery.
This role is primarily a software engineering position — you will design, build, and own services and pipelines in Python and .NET — with data engineering as a core domain rather than the whole job. You'll also work alongside AI coding agents to accelerate delivery, and act as a quality gate for agent-generated code.
- Design, build, and maintain production services and data pipelines using Python and .NET, following strong engineering practices.
- Develop and integrate REST and GraphQL APIs with .NET 8, including clear data contracts and automated testing.
- Build Python-based data pipelines on AWS Batch for data ingestion, transformation, and loading into Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Develop document parsing and transformation workflows using Pandas, BeautifulSoup, and XML/HTML tools.
- Leverage AI coding tools and LLMs (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, AWS Kiro) to accelerate development while ensuring code quality, security, and maintainability.
- Design and operate AWS-based workflows using services such as S3, Batch, Lambda, SNS, EKS, and CloudWatch.
- Own the full development lifecycle, including code reviews, CI/CD, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Collaborate with QA and stakeholders, contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement, and support onboarding and knowledge sharing.
- 3+ years of software engineering experience in a production environment, ideally working with data-intensive systems or pipelines.
- Practical experience with .NET / C# and building REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly S3, Batch, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, and CloudWatch.
- Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including query development, schema design, and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of unit, integration, and automated testing.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical decisions and trade-offs.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Python 3.10+ and data processing libraries such as Pandas.
- Exposure to LangChain, LangGraph, or other LLM/agentic frameworks.
- Familiarity with OpenSearch or vector databases for RAG applications.
We offer:
- An opportunity to take on an independent role within a dynamic international team.
- The chance to gain valuable experience and work with cutting-edge technologies.
- Comprehensive training and onboarding to support your success.
- A hybrid work model with flexible working hours.
- Private health insurance, medical care, and a Multisport card.
