About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer specializing in Ruby to join our client's dynamic team on a full-time, remote basis. This role focuses on evaluating and validating large language models (LLMs) by developing datasets and benchmarks that simulate real-world software engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby development, experience working with complex codebases, and a passion for advancing AI-driven software solutions. You will collaborate closely with AI researchers and contribute to projects aimed at enhancing LLM performance in tasks such as bug fixing and code completion. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Demonstrated expertise in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up reproducible software pipelines are essential. Candidates should have the ability to understand and navigate complex, real-world codebases, and possess the skills to run, modify, and test code locally. Familiarity with Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec and Minitest, as well as gem management using Bundler, is required. Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues from trending open-source repositories on GitHub to identify suitable evaluation scenarios for LLM benchmarking.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including creating Docker containers and preparing environments to ensure reproducibility of tests.
- Assess unit test coverage and code quality metrics to establish baseline health and robustness of software projects.
- Modify, run, and debug Ruby codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug fixing, code completion, and other software engineering tasks.
- Collaborate with AI research teams to select repositories and issues that present challenging and meaningful scenarios for model evaluation.
- Document findings, develop testing protocols, and contribute to the continuous improvement of evaluation methodologies.
