Software Developer Kotlin / Android (m/w/d) — Hamburg — 90% remote — up to €90,000

A German statutory health insurer is hiring an Android developer into the squad that owns its mobile design system. Twelve months, AUG, starting ASAP

The squad builds the foundational UI component library that every one of the organisation's mobile apps is built on. This is the component layer, not feature work inside one app — what you build here lands in every team's product.

The package

  • Up to €90,000 gross per annum, all-in, depending on level
  • 12 months, AUG
  • 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday
  • Approximately 90% remote, around 10% on site in Hamburg
  • German at C1 or above

What you will do

  • Build native Android features in Kotlin and Android Studio in an agile SCRUM team
  • Technical refactoring of existing features and components inside the design system
  • Bug fixing and integration of supplied modules and libraries into the existing codebase
  • Quality assurance of your components, including the documentation
  • Code reviews on pull requests, and holding the code quality standard
  • Advise the business on OS-specific design — requirements analysis, open implementation questions, complexity and effort estimates
  • Present results to the project team and take part in the internal Android developer communities

What you need

  • A completed degree in Computer Science or Business Informatics, or a comparable proven qualification such as Fachinformatiker Anwendungsentwicklung
  • Minimum 600 Android coding days in the last five years using Git, Android Studio, Gradle and Kotlin
  • Hands-on UI and unit testing with Espresso, JUnit and Mockito
  • Experience with UI component libraries and design systems in Android
  • Excellent Jetpack Compose, including complex components integrated into an existing codebase
  • Strong communication and teamwork, and an open mind about agentic coding and AI-assisted development tools
  • German at C1 or above, and the right to work in Germany

Nice to have: Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Multiplatform, REST and Retrofit, dependency injection with Koin, and CI with GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

There are no nationality restrictions on this role. All nationalities can be put forward.

If you have worked on a shared component library that other teams consumed, say so at the top of your CV.
