C/C++ Software Developer (m/f/*)

Develop precision timing software with Oregano Systems, a Meinberg company. Our syn1588® PTP Technology Stack brings highly accurate clock synchronization to demanding industrial and research applications.

Vienna · Hybrid · Full-time · Part-time by agreement: 32 h / 4 days

Technology with a broad reach

IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol enables devices to share a highly accurate time reference across a network. Our work focuses on the technology needed to implement this synchronization and integrate it into applications and platforms.

The fields we serve include telecommunications, audio and video broadcasting, energy systems and smart grids, finance, automotive, data centers, industrial automation, research, and others. You will work on various applications spanning many industries.

Your role

  • Improve and extend the syn1588® PTP Technology Stack and contribute to its software quality.
  • Develop related applications and APIs and contribute to software integration with SoC FPGA platforms.
  • Work with colleagues across software, digital hardware/FPGA, and PCB design, sharing technical decisions and knowledge.
  • Participate in international projects and exchange technical information with partners and customers in English.

A foundation to build on

Bring a solid foundation in C++, an interest in learning, and English skills that allow you to discuss technical topics in writing and conversation. Clear communication and a willingness to share knowledge matter to us.

We welcome applicants who bring different combinations of experience. You do not need to know every technology listed below: tell us where your strengths lie and which areas you would like to learn.

Experience that helps

  • Languages: modern C++ (C++17 or later), C, and Python.
  • Platforms: application or driver development for Windows and Linux.
  • Development workflow: Git, Jenkins, Docker, CMake, NixOS, or comparable tools.
  • Networking and timing: network protocols and administration, IEEE 1588/PTP, and NTP.
  • Algorithms and interfaces: control loops, signal filters, and APIs such as gRPC or REST.

These are useful areas of experience, rather than a requirement to master every item. We value both what you already know and your motivation to develop further.

How we work

We discuss technical decisions within and between our engineering teams. You can deepen your knowledge through exchange with experienced colleagues and help shape your role as your expertise grows.

This is a full-time position with flexible working hours. We offer hybrid working, with most work done at our company office in Vienna. After onboarding, 1–2 home-working days per week and/or part-time work in the extend of 32 hours per week over four days are possible.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Technical ability, curiosity, communication, and teamwork are what we value.

Salary and application

The salary range is €39,000–€68,000 gross per year on a full-time basis. Your agreed salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience.

Send your application to puhm@oregano.at. Your application will be treated confidentially. For questions about the position, contact Andreas Puhm at +43 676 843104 360 or at the same email address.
