Software Engineer (Full Stack / AI)

Full-Time | 100% Remote | International Candidates Welcome | U.S. Pacific Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to join a fast-growing, U.S.-based health technology company developing AI-powered solutions for healthcare and behavioral health operations.

This is a fully remote position working directly with U.S.-based engineering and operations leadership. The ideal candidate is an independent developer who can build production-ready applications, integrate AI capabilities, and contribute to a rapidly evolving software platform.

The company is an early-stage, venture-backed startup with an established product, active users, and experienced leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

* Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Python, React, and TypeScript.

* Build and maintain APIs, backend services, and frontend interfaces.

* Develop and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, queries, and migrations.

* Build and maintain secure multi-tenant application architecture.

AI Development & Integration

* Integrate large language models (LLMs), particularly Claude, into production applications.

* Develop AI-powered workflows, document processing, structured data extraction, and background automation.

* Implement prompt engineering, AI evaluations, and performance optimization.

* Use AI-assisted coding tools to improve development efficiency.

Security & Data Management

* Implement secure authentication, authorization, and role-based access controls.

* Develop row-level security, audit logging, and data protection measures.

* Follow best practices for handling sensitive healthcare information.

* Support HIPAA-aligned application development and security practices.

Deployment & Quality Assurance

* Deploy, monitor, and maintain applications using AWS.

* Write automated tests, conduct code reviews, and maintain technical documentation.

* Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.

* Collaborate with U.S.-based engineering and operations teams to translate business requirements into working software.

* Deliver reliable product improvements on a continuous basis.

Required Qualifications

* 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including production web applications.

* Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, and React.

* Experience developing REST APIs and backend services.

* Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, relational database design, and migrations.

* Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure application architecture.

* Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs, including Claude, OpenAI, or similar platforms.

* Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.

* Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and deployment processes.

* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

* Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

* Ability to collaborate effectively with U.S.-based teams during Pacific Time business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience developing healthcare technology or HIPAA-compliant applications.

* Experience with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.

* Knowledge of AWS infrastructure as code, including Terraform or AWS CDK.

* Experience working in an early-stage startup or fast-paced product environment.

* Experience deploying AI-powered features into production environments.

* Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM evaluations, latency optimization, and API cost management.

* Experience with document extraction, OCR, and automated data processing pipelines.

Work Arrangement

* Employment Type: Full-Time

* Location: 100% Remote — International Candidates Welcome

* Schedule: 40 hours per week

* Working Hours: U.S. Pacific Time (Los Angeles), with preference for candidates who can work during U.S. West Coast business hours or maintain significant overlap.

* Reporting To: U.S.-based Engineering and Operations Leadership

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a mid-to-senior-level engineer who is comfortable owning projects from initial development through production deployment.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with practical problem-solving, attention to security, and the ability to work efficiently in a small, fast-moving engineering team.

Experience building real-world AI applications, rather than simply experimenting with AI tools, is particularly valuable.
