Software Engineer II - CyberAI

Description

Assured Information Security (AIS) is seeking a Software Engineer with a focus on Computer Network Operations (CNO) to join our CyberAI team. In this role, you will support the engineering platforms and microservices that power mission-critical applications used across multiple Department of Defense (DoD) customers.

*This is a hybrid position, with an onsite requirement of 3 days per week. This position also requires an active TS/SCI*

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, document, test, debug, and maintain software applications.
• Develop backend services and APIs using Python, including application logic, data processing, and automation.
• Develop modern web-based user interfaces using JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks.
• Design and develop software to support CNO capabilities.
• Apply knowledge of software security concepts, networking, and system architecture to software development and analysis.
• Experience in software static and dynamic analysis to identify vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and unexpected behaviors.
• Knowledge in debugging applications and low-level software using appropriate debugging and analysis tools.
• Set up, configure, and use virtualized infrastructure for software development, testing, analysis, and debugging.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop, test, and integrate software and CNO capabilities.

Education / Experience / Skillset Required

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 2 years of relevant professional experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years of professional software development experience with Python, C/C++ and or Rust.
• Experience with the following:
  • Developing Python-based backend applications, services, and APIs.
  • Building JavaScript/TypeScript frontend applications and web-based user interfaces.
  • Software static and dynamic analysis.
  • Software analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Unit testing and automated software testing practices.
  • Atlassian tools, including Jira, Confluence, and Crucible.
• Familiarity with modern web application architectures, including frontend/back-end integration, REST APIs, and client-server communication.
• Proficiency in software debugging and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of CNO development concepts.
• Knowledge of low-level internals of one or more operating systems, such as Windows or Unix/Linux.

What Sets You Apart:

• Experience with:
  • FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar Python web frameworks.
  • Experience with Vue.js, React, Angular, or similar JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
  • Docker and containerized applications.
  • Git/GitLab-based software development workflows and CI/CD.
  • Developing and deploying software in Linux environments.
  • Working with virtual machines and virtualized environments, including Proxmox, VMware, or similar platforms.
  • RESTful API design and OpenAPI/Swagger.
  • Databases and backend data services such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies.
  • Writing automated tests using pytest or equivalent testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with secure software development practices, vulnerability assessment, and application security.

US Salary Range: $92,000 - $142,000

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
