Software Engineer II (Software Development Specialist)

Compensation: $700 USD base salary per month, plus up to $300 USD in performance-based bonuses per month.

About the Role

SmartPropFirm is looking for a Software Development Specialist to join our Product & Engineering team.

You'll build, maintain, and improve software products for the prop trading industry, including trading tools, customer dashboards, rewards systems, marketplaces, and other platform features.

We're looking for a skilled, proactive engineer with strong technical fundamentals, practical full-stack development experience, and the ability to independently solve problems, take ownership of features, and deliver reliable solutions using modern technologies and AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain features across our web platform.
• Build scalable, maintainable, and production-ready frontend and backend solutions.
• Take ownership of features from development through testing and deployment.
• Integrate APIs, databases, authentication systems, and third-party services.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical issues.
• Write clean, well-structured, reusable, and thoroughly tested code.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices.
• Leverage AI development tools to accelerate development, debugging, and problem-solving.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with full-stack web application development.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, databases, authentication, and application architecture.
• Experience working with Git, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to debug complex issues and optimize application performance.
• Experience using AI development tools such as ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
• Understanding of responsive UI/UX principles and frontend performance optimization.
• Experience with automated testing and production monitoring.
• Experience or interest in fintech, trading platforms, dashboards, marketplaces, or rewards systems.
