About us
We are shaping a digital state – together with the public administration. As equal partners, we support the administration on its journey to drive its own digitalization forward. Through iterative in-house product development and our commitment to better framework conditions, we create the foundation for digital solutions that are scalable and effective.
Your role
You build it, you run it, you automate it – as a Software Engineer – Internal Tools & Integrations (all genders), you will be responsible for the development, operation, and continuous evolution of our internal applications and automations that support our daily business processes.
In this role, you will combine full-stack development with APIs, integrations, and workflow automations to connect systems, reduce manual work, and build reliable internal tools. If pragmatic problem-solving, end-to-end ownership, and choosing the right solution for each task – whether custom code or automation – matter to you, we would love to get to know you.
You can find further information about software development, interdisciplinary collaboration at DigitalService, and our guiding Delivery Principles in the following blog posts.
Job Details:
-
Responsibility for internal applications: You will take ownership of the operation, maintenance, and continuous development of various internal applications, including our internal Vue/Nuxt staffing application, which serves as a central operational tool for our business processes.
-
Workflow automation & integrations: You will design, develop, and operate event-based automations and "glue code" using n8n, Slack integrations, REST APIs, and webhooks. In doing so, you will reduce repetitive manual tasks and connect our internal application with external SaaS tools and AI models.
-
Data provisioning & API management: You will ensure that data from our internal systems is made securely and reliably available. To achieve this, you will build optimized database views and robust API endpoints, particularly for analytics and reporting.
-
System reliability & database operations: You will monitor application availability, maintain production databases, and ensure they remain stable and scale securely with our business requirements.
-
Operational & technical collaboration: You will work closely with our Operations and Staffing teams to identify friction points in existing workflows. Together with Analytics, Workplace IT, Platform, and Security, you will develop reliable integrations, data access paths, and secure technical solutions.
What you bring
-
Full-stack development: You bring solid experience in modern web development and feel equally at home in the frontend and backend – particularly with Vue.js/Nuxt.js, TypeScript, and Node.js or comparable technologies.
-
Integration & API experience: You have practical experience designing and implementing API integrations using REST APIs and webhooks, enabling you to reliably connect internal applications with external systems and services.
-
Workflow automation: You have experience developing and maintaining workflow automations using n8n or similar platforms such as Zapier or Make.
-
AI & LLM integration: You have hands-on experience integrating common AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) into automation pipelines and web applications – including prompt design, parsing structured outputs (JSON), and API error handling.
-
Pragmatic problem-solving: You focus on solving business problems effectively and securely, knowing when custom-built software or low-code/no-code solutions are the right approach to deliver value quickly.
-
Language proficiency: German (min. A2) and English (C1).
