About the organisation
Our client is an international tech company and library cooperative with its global headquarters in the United States and offices in Leiden and Eelde. From Leiden, a development team builds and maintains a metadata management platform that national libraries and regional library consortia in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Japan use to manage very large collections. The product has grown over decades into a flexible and commercially successful system.

The team
You join an experienced team of 10 software engineers, 2 test engineers and a technical manager. Because the team is quite senior, there is room for someone with a little less experience who wants to grow alongside strong colleagues.

What will you do?

• Design, build and test new functionality and improvements to the platform
• Analyse and solve problems in existing systems
• Help translate requirements into designs and working code
• Take part in unit, system and acceptance testing, architecture reviews and performance testing
• Work on continuous integration, development environments and software releases
• Use AI tools as a standard part of your development work

Who are we looking for?

• At least 4 years of experience as a software engineer
• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience with Java/Spring and with React
• Experience with AWS (Lambda, EKS, ECS)
• Good knowledge of Linux and scripting
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Git is a plus; C is an advantage
• Hands-on use of AI tools in your daily work
• Good English; Dutch is not required
• A team player who enjoys working in an agile, international environment

• A salary of up to €5,000 gross per month, depending on experience, plus an end-of-year bonus
