Software Engineer - Laravel

About the Role: This is a great role for either strong intermediate engineers looking to expedite their technical knowledge, or senior engineers looking for a clear runway to team leadership. As a Full Stack Engineer at Strive, you’ll work closely with our Senior Management – Software and a small team of engineers to build, ship, and maintain features across our web and mobile platforms. You’ll primarily be working with Laravel , Flutter , and React and you’ll get exposure to both front-end and back-end development. You won’t just be handed specs—you’ll be invited to think critically about the product, the user experience, and the best way to solve problems. This is a great opportunity to take real ownership in a fast-moving, purpose-driven startup. Within the first year in the role, the team will be responsible for upgrading our legacy MVP for high scalability and reliability whilst concurrently developing our new A.I. offerings. Responsibilities: ● Build and maintain features across web and mobile platforms using Laravel, Flutter, and React ● Collaborate with the Tech Lead and product team to design, develop, test, and launch new capabilities ● Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and architecture discussions ● Write clean, efficient, well-tested code ● Contribute to database design and performance tuning in MySQL and MongoDB ● Help maintain and improve dev workflows using tools like Bitbucket, AWS, and QA automation tools ● Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in full stack development ● Think like a product engineer – contribute ideas, spot potential improvements, and help shape the product experience ● Genuinely understand our use cases and be able and willing to communicate with customers when necessary ● Understand and assist with compliance tasks (SOCII, HIPAA, etc..) Tech Stack: ● Backend: Laravel, Lumen ● Frontend: Flutter, React (Web + Mobile) ● Databases: MySQL, MongoDB ● Tools: Bitbucket, AWS, QA Automation Tools, Jira, Docker About You: ● 2–4+ years of full stack development experience (Laravel experience is required, React and/or Flutter experience is a big plus) ● Write clean, maintainable code with experience navigating and improving legacy systems ● Comfortable building features from database to UI ● Strong communicator and collaborator ● Curious, thoughtful, and proactive — you don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do ● A problem-solver who cares about usability, performance, and impact ● Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS), Git-based workflows, and QA/test automation is helpful Bonus Points For: ● Comfort using quality tools like Rector, PHPStan and Xdebug ● Professional experience developing Flutter applications ● Deep understanding of test frameworks like PHPUnit and Pest ● Experience using AI Augmented development using custom MCPS and agentic models. ● Exposure to, or interest in, the U.S. Employee Benefits space Why Strive? ● Work on products that actually improve people’s access to critical benefits ● Small team, real impact — your work won’t get lost in the shuffle ● Collaborative, remote-first culture ● Plenty of growth opportunity as we scale
