About the Role
Ryz Labs is partnering with a client looking for a Software Engineer to help improve the reliability, usability, and overall quality of a production web application.
In this role, you'll work across the application to investigate unexpected behavior, identify technical issues, and implement code-level improvements that make the product more reliable for its users.
We're looking for an engineer who enjoys understanding how systems work, digging into complex problems, and turning unclear issues into practical, lasting solutions. You'll collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot production behavior, improve existing functionality, and prevent recurring issues through thoughtful engineering.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys both building software and making existing applications work better.
What You'll Do
• Investigate and resolve bugs across the frontend, backend, and database.
• Reproduce unexpected application behavior and identify the underlying technical cause.
• Implement fixes and improvements using TypeScript and React.
• Analyze application data and SQL queries to understand unexpected results and troubleshoot issues.
• Use logs, monitoring tools, and error-tracking platforms to diagnose production problems.
• Improve application usability by refining forms, filters, sorting, error handling, and other user-facing functionality.
• Identify recurring technical problems and develop solutions that prevent them from happening again.
• Contribute to code quality, application stability, dependency updates, and security improvements.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teammates to prioritize issues and deliver reliable solutions.
• Communicate technical findings clearly and document investigations and solutions for distributed teams.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
• 2–4 years of experience developing and maintaining production web applications.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience debugging application issues and troubleshooting unexpected behavior in production or development environments.
• Ability to investigate problems using logs, error reports, user feedback, and incomplete technical information.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to understand existing codebases and make targeted improvements without introducing regressions.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Comfortable collaborating asynchronously with a distributed engineering team.
Nice to Have
• Experience with Next.js or other modern web frameworks.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and ORMs such as Drizzle.
• Experience with error monitoring and product analytics tools such as Sentry and PostHog.
• Exposure to cloud platforms and deployment environments such as Vercel or AWS.
• Experience with production incident investigation, on-call rotations, or application maintenance.
• Familiarity with Hono, Neon, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Experience improving application reliability, usability, or performance through code changes.
Who Would Thrive in This Role?
• Engineers who enjoy debugging as much as building new features.
• Developers who look beyond the immediate error to understand the root cause.
• People who are comfortable navigating an existing codebase and figuring out unfamiliar systems.
• Engineers who take ownership of problems and follow them through to resolution.
• Professionals who value clear communication, practical solutions, and continuous product improvement.
