About You

You are an engineer who thinks about quality as a property of systems, not a separate testing activity. Your background may be in software development, DevOps, platform engineering, or quality engineering. You enjoy building tools, frameworks, and workflows that help engineering teams prevent failures, detect problems early, and understand what went wrong. You combine hands-on programming skills with solid quality engineering practices. You think about testability, failure modes, reliable automation, and useful feedback, not just the number of tests executed. You are comfortable exploring unfamiliar systems, working across teams, and turning a defined problem into a maintainable engineering solution. If that’s YOU – then this is the perfect role for you!

Your Responsibilities

As our new Software Engineer, Quality Engineering, you will build and improve the frameworks, tooling, and automation that enable teams to continuously validate, observe, and improve their systems. You will work across engineering teams, focusing on quality challenges where shared tooling, automation, and improved development workflows can reduce recurring problems and strengthen feedback loops. You will be part of our global Technology division and report to the Global Head of Quality Engineering, based in Berlin, Germany.

In this role you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain reusable quality engineering frameworks, tools, and libraries that engineering teams can integrate into their development workflows.
  • Integrate automated checks and actionable quality feedback into CI/CD pipelines, helping teams detect failures early and diagnose them efficiently.
  • Improve test infrastructure and execution workflows, including environment setup, configuration, dependencies, and troubleshooting.
  • Investigate failures across components and integrations, translating recurring problems into automated checks, guardrails, or improvements to system testability.
  • Work with engineering, DevOps, and data teams to make quality practices practical, maintainable, and easy to adopt.
  • Enable delivery teams to own and maintain their checks, through shared tooling, examples, documentation, and hands-on collaboration.
  • Evaluate whether the implemented mechanisms provide reliable, useful feedback, and improve them based on observed failures and team needs.

You Offer

  • Strong programming skills in a general-purpose language and experience building maintainable software. Python experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience developing or extending engineering tooling, automation frameworks, developer workflows, or shared infrastructure.
  • Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and integrating automation into software delivery.
  • Practical understanding of quality engineering practices, including risk-based validation, test architecture, unit, integration and contract testing, and the trade-offs between different layers of checks.
  • Ability to investigate failures across application code, configuration, environments, and component interfaces.
  • A focus on maintainability, clear diagnostics, and usability when building tools for other engineers.
  • Strong collaboration skills and professional proficiency in English.

It would be a plus, if you have:

  • Familiarity with containers, cloud environments, or infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD, AWS, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with distributed or data-intensive systems.
  • SQL skills or familiarity with data pipelines, Databricks, data validation, or data-quality tooling.
  • Experience applying AI-assisted engineering tools or validating AI-generated outputs.

Please note that we will only consider candidates with a valid work permit.

The salary range for this role is EUR 56,700–69,300
