Solar Performance (Automation Engineer)

The Opportunity Ulteig and its affiliated companies are hiring an engineer skilled in Python and object-oriented programming to support our Capacity and Availability testing scopes and develop automation and efficiency tools for a team of engineers and CAD drafters focused on utility-scale solar electrical design. **Please note that resumes must be submitted in English for the application to be considered** What You’ll Do Data processing to support capacity and availability testing services. Data visualization to analyze data, show passing conditions, and address client comments. Designs and programs applications and software to meet identified needs. Collaborates with engineers, CAD technicians, clients, and other stakeholders to assess usability needs, requirements, and specifications for the requested programs or applications. Analyzes existing program logic to identify use cases, needs for further development, and causes of program malfunctions; modifies program logic to eliminate problems or increase the operational efficiency of the program. Coordinates with project managers to ensure timelines are met. Performs diagnostic testing on programs, which may include reading code or running diagnostic software to detect syntax or logic errors. Develops methods for logging time saved through use of automation/tools. Modifies, replaces, or removes code to resolve problems and errors. Facilitates installation of software; monitors performance and effectiveness after installation. Develops written training and documentation and provides training to end users on effective use of applications and programs. Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in related areas of technology and programming. Performs other related duties as assigned. Additional duties may include tasks beyond what is listed, such as special projects, assisting colleagues, or new initiatives. What We Expect from You Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field required. 2 years of experience minimum. Proficient with Python, specifically in object-oriented and graphical user interface development, is required. AutoCAD LISP function familiarity is a plus. Data analysis skills are a plus. Proficient in revision control via GitHub or equivalent. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines in an agile management workflow. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Thorough understanding of design, testing, and modification of programs and applications. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the coding and programming languages used in the organization. Experience using AI as a means of software development preferred. Ability to work in a hybrid mode schedule; 3 days in the office, 2 days from home. Must possess strong verbal and written English communication skills (CEFR level B2–C1). You should be comfortable articulating complex ideas and collaborating effectively within a global professional environment. Must have authorization to work legally in Costa Rica for any employer.
