Solution Architect (Prototyping)

Orcrist is building a next generation data intelligence platform using cutting-edge technologies. We're handling petabyte-scale data with sub-second queries. Our product is a Kubernetes‑based platform delivered as B2B SaaS or as a self‑hosted on‑prem solution, including air‑gapped deployments. We enable customers across defense, law enforcement, and enterprise to turn mission-critical data into actionable intelligence. Role We're looking for a Solution Architect to join our GovDev team. In this role, you'll own the technical dialogue with incoming leads — translating prospect needs into working prototypes and helping bridge the gap between our GovDev team and Product. You'll play a key part in shaping how we bring new solutions to public- and private-sector customers with critical missions. What you'll do Act as technical lead on incoming opportunities: run discovery calls, qualify technical fit, answer architecture and integration questions, and support the team in pitches and demos Work directly with customers to understand complex workflows, design pilots, and translate business requirements into technical solutions Design and build prototypes that aren't throwaway work — they're built to a standard that allows clean handover to our Product & Engineering teams Lead technical engagements, including deep dives into platform architecture, workshop facilitation, and best practices for data integration and app customization Hand over won opportunities to the owning Product & Engineering team, including documentation and context on customer requirements Represent the voice of the market to Product, helping inform our roadmap based on recurring themes across leads Maintain reusable demo assets, reference prototypes, and technical collateral (architecture diagrams, integration guides, FAQs) Feed back platform gaps and friction discovered during prototyping to the relevant product teams About you Strong, hands-on knowledge of platform architecture and integration concepts Ability to build functional prototypes quickly, to a standard others can take over Comfort in customer-facing settings, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and business stakeholders Excellent communication skills to articulate complex architectures to both technical stakeholders and executive audiences A structured approach to holding and documenting trade-off discussions between commercial and product priorities Fluent German and English (C1+) Willingness to travel up to 50% (national & international) Authorization to work in Germany What we offer Remote-first, Germany-wide: Work from wherever you do your best work, with regular team gatherings in Berlin and other off-site locations.
