Salesforce is looking for several Pre-Sales Solution Engineers to join our dedicated Data Foundation Pre-Sales Solution Engineering team, who are instrumental to Data Foundation's growth. Data Foundation brings together our MuleSoft integration and API platform with our Informatica data management, governance, and MDM capabilities — together, they turn connected, trustworthy data into the foundation AI agents need to act reliably at scale. Solution Engineers in this role help customers build that foundation, whether an engagement starts with MuleSoft, Informatica, or both.
Pre-Sales Solution Engineers provide technical sales partnership to our sales teams and align our solutions to our customers' vision. The Data Foundation Sales team relies on the technical and product expertise of our Solution Engineers throughout the sales cycle. The Solution Engineering team plays an integral part of the success for both our customers and Account Executives. They are technologists and customer advocates that connect the dots between the technical solution and the business outcomes for the customer.
We are hiring for all levels of Pre-Sales Solution Engineers to focus across multiple industries such as Financial Services Consulting, Technology, Retail and Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Manufacturing, or Automotive.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
- Building trusted relationships with internal and external partners to qualify deals, identify business value, and provide technical guidance in order to set expectations to ensure customer success
- Conducting technical discovery meetings to document, analyze, and clarify business and technical requirements to support a detailed solution proposal, managing customer engagements independently
- Delivering architecture reframe and developing white-boarding skills through shadowing and customer-scenario role playing
- Responding to Request for Information/Proposal documents
- Working hands-on with prospects and customers to deliver standard, customized, and/or strategic solution demonstrations, white boarding, presentations, architecture workshops, and best practices that showcase the functional capabilities, competitive advantages, and business benefits of Data Foundation solutions — from demo and proof of concept to design and implementation
- Supporting demos at marketing and field events
- Collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing to continuously improve Data Foundation's products and marketing, including surfacing customer feedback on product gaps
- Sharing best practices, content, tips, and tricks within your primary area of responsibility
- Staying ahead of and immersing in ever-evolving technology landscape, maintaining a deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors, to position MuleSoft's and Informatica's value in relation to them
- Staying current on relevant certifications
- Actively leveraging AI and staying ahead of agentic concepts, tooling, code development, solution architecture and emerging trends in the AI space
- Partner with the Customer Success Management (CSM) team on nurture activities, including technical advisory and workshops
- Provide ongoing, post-sales technical guidance to the client's technical team to drive adoption/utilization of Data Foundation's solutions and digital transformation success

Even Better If...
- You have current Salesforce certifications
- You have prior experience as a Solution Engineer/Sales Engineer
- You are skilled in at least one MuleSoft or Informatica related software platform/technology (e.g. API management, app integration, MDM, data governance, and data integration including AI-assisted capabilities such as Informatica CLAIRE)
- You posses basic knowledge of top cloud ecosystems and data-related technologies
- You possess basic knowledge of cloud computing security aspects
- You are currently leveraging AI tools such as Claude, Codex, Gemini or other for personal productivity, code development and analysis
- Your have certifications on at least one cloud ecosystem and one data-related cloud technology at the level defined by the business area of focus
- You have experience in industries such as Financial Services, Consulting, Technology, Retail and Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Manufacturing, or Automotive
Required Qualifications to Be Successful
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required (BS, Master's, or PhD)
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience
- Demonstrated presentation and composure abilities in front of all levels of technical and non-technical audiences
- Hands-on Java development experience and ability to code and debug against Java APIs is preferred
- Experience with cloud technologies — iPaaS, SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, etc. — is preferred
- Working knowledge of hybrid deployment of software solutions, data warehousing, database, and BI concepts, plus core data management mechanics: master data match/merge and survivorship, data quality, and lineage
- Experience building and delivering Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and responding to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs independently
- Knowledge of related applications, relational databases, and ERP technologies
- Strong demonstrated oral, written, presentation, collaboration, and interpersonal communication skills
- Fluency with AI-based development and agentic concepts, including supporting technologies (e.g. models, MCP, A2A, token management, etc.) and solutions
- Ability to travel as needed (30-40%) and work flexible hours across multiple time zones
- Experience leading architectural discussions
- Proven experience establishing trust with clients, and the ability to influence key decision makers, influencers, coaches, and partners
- Storytelling ability and experience tailoring communication and engagement with prospects to specific use cases
- A passion for technology and an ability to translate that passion to impact business for our customers

The typical base salary range for this position is $70,070 - $244,510 annually
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. In California and New York, and select cities in the metropolitan areas of Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Washington DC, the base pay range for this role in those locations is $77,070 - $269,080 per year. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
