The Solutions Architect for Orange, Job Overview

F5 is looking for a Solutions Architect engaged with Orange as a global Telco and Service Provider: a senior pre-sales and technical leadership role within the EMEA Solution Architects sales organization.

Your primary function will be to own the technical vision for F5 across Orange Group and all Orange subsidiaries and business units (France, Spain, Poland, Belgium and Orange Middle East and Africa as per today, including Orange Business and Orange Cyberdefense), both for solutions adopted by Orange and Solutions positioned by Orange to their end customers, working in collaboration with the Account Management team to discover opportunities and identify the F5 solutions that best address Orange’s business needs.

Where a Solutions Engineer supports individual opportunities, as a Solutions Architect you are expected to embrace Orange from a broad perspective: understanding the group’s transformation agenda end to end (network, cloud, data centre, security and AI), building the multi-year architectural narrative that connects F5 to it, and orchestrating the technical resources required to execute it.

A fundamental part of your mission will be to become a trusted advisor to Orange and an evangelist for F5, internally and externally, via whitepapers, reference architectures, training, blogs, tech tips, workshops and speaking at industry and customer events. You will champion Orange’s requirements and ensure they are understood by other teams within F5, such as Marketing, Product Management and Product Engineering.

While Orange is your primary focus, the scope of this role could grow in the future. The reference architectures, assets and Service Provider expertise you build are expected to be reused across F5’s broader Strategic Account community, and your responsibilities may extend over time to other strategic accounts and to the wider F5 technology practice.

To truly excel in this role, we’re seeking a profile that not only possesses strong technical skills and a solid understanding of the Telco world and of how Application Delivery and Security technology drives innovation in the era of AI, but also shares our commitment to F5’s mission. Above all, a genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning, adaptability, and staying ahead of evolving trends is essential. Familiarity with F5 products and the broader ecosystem is beneficial, but what matters most is your drive to embrace new challenges, expand your knowledge, and help us advance our mission. Fear not, we do provide training and certification to keep abreast of these critical skills!

What you’ll do

  • Own and maintain the technical account strategy and architecture roadmap for F5 within Orange Global Account, aligned to the group’s transformation priorities and covering all subsidiaries and business units.
  • Identify and work on strategic opportunities across the Orange group and provide the technical expertise to embed F5 technology within them.
  • Articulate the F5 product strategy, messaging and value proposition, translating technical capability into business outcomes for Orange’s technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Determine the viability of opportunities and map out the organizational structure of a complex global account, identifying and developing technical Champions across countries and business units and securing their validation, support and sponsorship.
  • Play the role of an evangelist and thought leader for F5 within Orange and in the wider Service Provider and Telco community, not only for Telco Core project but for all the strategic initiatives Orange is taking.
  • Contribute to technical response to RFx processes and provide technical expertise through sales presentations, solution designs, demonstrations and proofs of concept, in person or virtually.
  • Orchestrate and virtually lead the extended F5 technical team engaged on the account (Solutions Engineers, technology specialists, Professional Services and partners), acting as the main technical leader within the global account.
  • Collaborate with other Solutions Architects and internal business leaders to share ideas, identify common customer pain points and industry trends, and identify appropriate F5 solutions.
  • Advocate for customer needs, high-value everyday use cases, and innovative ideas from the field with Product Management and services teams.
  • Provide mentorship to the Solution Engineering community and contribute reusable assets and reference architectures that can be applied beyond the Orange account.
  • Consistently provide world-class customer service through the customer life cycle.

What you’ll bring

  • 8+ years of related industry experience; time spent working in or for Service Providers is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a Solutions Architect or senior Solutions Engineer working for Orange or, as an alternative, for another global Telco Provider.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate across a large, multi-country, account and to build technical consensus among geographically distributed technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present technical concepts to executives and business leaders, tailoring the message to the audience’s level of technical understanding.
  • Extensive experience making business driven solution demonstrations and presentations to technical and business leads.
  • Experience speaking at industry/customer events, publishing whitepapers/solution articles, blogs, tech tips, and more.
