Show job description

Fortreum is a trusted leader in cloud and cybersecurity services, ranked among the Top 5 FedRAMP Third Party Assessment Organizations (3PAO). With the addition of Kovr.AI, we have expanded our capabilities to include advanced cyber risk quantification and analytics, enabling organizations to better understand, measure, and communicate risk. Together, we deliver independent, third-party, vendor-agnostic regulatory assessment and advisory services, alongside advanced cybersecurity offensive and compliance technical solutions. Our comprehensive service portfolio spans regulatory compliance frameworks including FedRAMP, CMMC, FISMA, SOC, PCI, ISO, and HIPAA.

Working with Fortune 500 companies and leading cloud service providers, we’ve built our reputation on service-delivery excellence and an unwavering commitment to client success. Our continued rapid growth creates exceptional opportunities for driven professionals to make their mark in the cybersecurity industry—guided by our core values: quality above all, a customer-driven mindset, autonomy, and personal accountability.

The Opportunity

The Solution Engineer serves as a technical anchor for the sales team. This role leads compelling technical demonstrations of Kovr.AI, while partnering with Fortreum Account Executives (AEs) and Enterprise Account Executives (EAEs) to validate client needs against Fortreum’s capabilities across our diverse portfolio. The Solutions Engineer will own the Kovr.AI demo function end to end: customer-facing demonstrations in live deals, recorded and webinar demos for marketing and the field, and the building the playbooks that let the sales team run the basic motion themselves.

Key Responsibilities

Specifically, you would be responsible for:

  • Platform Demonstrations: Lead compelling technical demonstrations of Kovr.AI, visualizing for clients how continuous assessment technologies reduce administrative burden and risk profile.

  • Technical Discovery: Participate in scoping sessions during the consideration stage to help translate client pain points into specific service requirements (hours, timeline, resources) across Fortreum's full portfolio.

  • Multi-Disciplinary Scoping: Help to scope diverse engagements ranging from audits & advisory to penetration testing and Kovr.AI-enabled continuous assessment, ensuring technical boundaries are clearly defined in the Statement of Work (SOW).

  • Proposal Architecture: Review SOWs and collaborate with delivery subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate pricing margins before submission.

  • Methodology Defense: Defend the technical approach during BAFO (Best and Final Offer) presentations and Information Security reviews.

  • Win Rate Optimization: Increase the technical win rate by providing AEs with technical air cover on complex regulatory topics (FedRAMP, HITRUST, CMMC) and on Kovr.AI positioning.

  • Product Feedback: Feed market requirements back to the Delivery team and the Kovr.AI product team to refine service and platform offerings based on client demand trends.

  • Training: Maintain and help deliver core training programs like Kovr Academy and Kovr Bootcamps. This includes instructor-led sessions with enterprise and government customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years in pre-sales engineering or technical consulting in cybersecurity.

  • U.S. Government Security Clearance (Top Secret)

  • Expertise in compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001); working familiarity with CMMC and PCI a plus.

  • Experience in product marketing and demos, including authoring white papers, recording demonstration videos, and public speaking.

  • Strong writing skills for creating detailed SOWs and RFP responses.

  • Proficiency in demonstrating SaaS/GRC platforms and their usability in cyber security and assurance workflows.

  • Comfortable operating within a function still being built — able to work with evolving process and contribute to shaping it rather than stepping into an established playbook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years in pre-sales engineering in cybersecurity, GRC, or similar technologies

  • Experience with eMASS, ServiceNow, Archer, and other GRC platforms

  • Technical familiarity with offensive security methodologies (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK framework) to support the scoping of Red Teaming and penetration testing opportunities.

  • Certified in one or more technical areas including compliance (e.g. CISA, CMMC), cloud (e.g. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner), and/or AI (e.g. AWS AI Certified Practitioner)

Location & Travel

This role will be based in the Fortreum office in Reston, VA. Travel will be expected to customer locations and conferences.
