Overview

We are excited to be expanding our Solutions team and are looking for a Solutions Engineer
who is interested in working at the forefront of probabilistic computing
for defence applications.

Quantum Dice is developing ORBIT, a new class of computing platform that combines quantum-enabled hardware with novel probabilistic architectures to address challenging optimisation, inference and AI workloads. Our technology has the potential to transform how organisations make decisions under uncertainty across defence, security and critical industries.

This is a technical, customer-facing role spanning our Solutions, Applied Research, Engineering and Commercial teams. Much of the work supports defence and national security customers on problems such as optimisation on real operational challenges.

What the Job Involves

  • Work with customers to identify high-value applications and translate their challenges into mathematical models.
  • Build prototypes and demonstrators on Quantum Dice's simulators, software stack and probabilistic processing unit hardware.
  • Apply optimisation, probabilistic inference and AI methods such as QUBO, Ising models and Bayesian networks.
  • Benchmark against classical solvers, CPUs and GPUs on solution quality, runtime and scalability.
  • Lead projects from requirements capture to pilot, delivering reports, demonstrations and proposals.
  • Work within defence constraints, including security classification, export control and data handling.
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers, and feed customer needs into product and hardware roadmaps.

Who You Are

Required

  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operational Research or similar, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience applying modelling, optimisation or advanced analytics to turn complex real-world problems into practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries and familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present results clearly and objectively.
  • Curious, proactive and excited by emerging technologies.

Desirable

  • Experience in systems engineering, operational analysis or modelling & simulation.
  • Consultancy or customer-facing proof-of-concept delivery, ideally in a deep-tech startup.
  • Experience with defence or national security customers.
  • Collaborative R&D, innovation programmes or technical proposals.
  • Existing UK security clearance.

Apply even if you don't meet every requirement above (other than eligibility for security clearance). If you're excited by the role and believe you can make an impact, we would love to hear from you.

Security Requirements

This role requires UK Security Check (SC) clearance. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain SC clearance, which normally requires at least five years' UK residency, and be eligible to work on UK Government programmes. Any offer will be conditional on obtaining clearance. We are unable to consider applicants who do not meet these requirements.

Why Join Quantum Dice?

At Quantum Dice, we're building more than just hardware but creating a new category of computing.

You'll join a team of physicists, engineers, mathematicians and entrepreneurs working to bring probabilistic computing into real-world deployment. You will work directly with leading organisations, influence the future direction of the ORBIT
platform and help define how a fundamentally new computing architecture is applied to optimisation, decision-making and AI challenges in some of the world's most demanding operational environments.
