🚀 ABOUT NOMAD AUTOMATE

With over 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, Nomad Automate (www.nomadautomate.com) is a unique and leading reference when it comes to solving one of the hardest problems in telecommunications: making massive, distributed multi-vendor networks predictable and automated. Our platform extracts, transforms, and analyzes high-throughput telemetry across complex IP/MPLS, optical, and backhaul infrastructures—turning millions of raw data points into real-time operational intelligence. Trusted by leading network operators and carriers around the world, we combine deep domain expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver what no one else can.

🎯 THE ROLE

We are looking for a Solutions Engineer – Telecom, Data & Automation to join our technical team.

This role sits at the intersection of telecom networks, software integration, data engineering, and customer success. You are not just delivering software; you are the trusted technical face of Nomad, working side by side with client network teams to make them the heroes of their operational environments.

You will lead the end-to-end deployment and integration of the Nomad platform into customer networks; extract, model, and process data from major telecom Network Management Systems, controllers, and automation frameworks from leading vendors such as Nokia, Huawei, Cisco, Ciena, and Ericsson. You will investigate complex technical challenges and translate live operational needs into product improvements.

This is neither a pure software development role nor a basic IT support desk. You will work hands-on with real network data, APIs, databases, containers, distributed systems, and telecom platforms, collaborating directly with customer engineering teams and Nomad's software team.

✨ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver Nomad Automate solutions into on-premises, private-cloud, and hybrid environments, from requirements and configuration through testing and production rollout.
  • Integrate telecom EMS, NMS, and SDN platforms from vendors such as Nokia, Huawei, ZTE, Ericsson, Cisco, and Ciena.
  • Analyze and integrate interfaces including REST APIs, Kafka, NETCONF/YANG, SNMP, XML/SOAP, SFTP, and file-based feeds.
  • Understand data models and define how inventory, topology, alarms, configuration, telemetry, and performance data map into Nomad.
  • Write technical integration specifications, interface requirements, and data-mapping documentation.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across Linux, Docker, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kafka, Redis, APIs, network connectivity, and pipelines.
  • Investigate data-quality issues such as missing network elements, incorrect topology, inconsistent inventory, or delayed performance data.
  • Own customer technical tickets from investigation through root-cause resolution, managing communication during troubleshooting and delivery activities.
  • Reproduce field issues in test environments and work with developers to validate fixes and new releases.
  • Build Python tools and scripts to automate deployment, validation, troubleshooting, reconciliation, and recurring engineering tasks.

👤 YOUR PROFILE

  • You hold an engineering degree (BSc or MSc) in telecommunications, networking, or computer science (or a closely related field).
  • This position is open to candidates with no prior professional experience as well as to those with up to 5 years of experience — your experience level will naturally be reflected in the responsibilities entrusted to you and in your compensation.
  • You enjoy understanding complex systems and investigating problems where the root cause may span several technology layers.
  • You challenge the status quo and thrive on continuous improvement.
  • You are comfortable taking ownership of technical issues from initial investigation through resolution and communicating clearly with both customers and internal engineering teams.
  • Customer-facing communication is a must: you must be comfortable speaking directly with customers, leading technical discussions, and explaining issues clearly.
  • Professional written and spoken English is required. French, German, and/or Spanish are a plus.

🦾 TECHNICAL SKILLS

We value strong engineering foundations, adaptability, and curiosity over a 100% checklist match.

Core Essentials

  • Python: solid practical skills for automation, API consumption, data manipulation, and scripting.
  • Linux: comfortable navigating the command line, inspecting processes, using networking tools, and reading logs.
  • Databases: hands-on experience querying and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL).
  • Analytical data stores: experience querying large datasets; familiarity with ClickHouse is a strong advantage.
  • Containers & microservices: practical experience with Docker and containerized/microservices environments.
  • Networking foundations: working understanding of IP addressing, routing concepts, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • APIs & formats: working knowledge of consuming RESTful APIs and parsing structured formats (JSON, XML, CSV).

Valuable Pluses (Great Opportunities to Learn!)

  • Direct exposure to telecom NMS and controllers such as Nokia NSP, Huawei NCE, and Ericsson ENM.
  • Domain knowledge in transport networks (wireless transmission, optical transport, IP/MPLS) and mobile backhaul.
  • Experience with event streams and caching: Kafka and Redis.
  • Familiarity with telco protocols and data definitions: SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, streaming telemetry.

🎁 WHAT WE OFFER

  • Real ownership: work directly on large-scale production telecom environments and take responsibility for the solutions you deliver.
  • Unique technical exposure: combine telecom networking with automation, APIs, distributed systems, databases, and data engineering.
  • Direct product impact: customer feedback and field experience directly influence our product roadmap.
  • Autonomy & flexibility: flexible working arrangements and hybrid/remote options.
  • International environment: work with customers and colleagues across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Professional growth: develop valuable expertise across telecom networks, automation technologies, and vendor ecosystems.
  • Competitive compensation: Competitive compensation: gross annual salary from €46,000 (entry-level, no professional experience) up to €56,000 (4+ years of experience), plus an annual performance-based bonus..
