Job Description

Are you passionate about leading sound design and shaping new dimensions of interactive play?

Bring your creative leadership, technical audio expertise and passion for play to help develop innovative sound experiences across the LEGO® universe.

Core Responsibilities

In this role as Design Manager, Sound Design, you will help bring interactive products to market by guiding teams in the development of playful and viable connected experiences. You will be a key driver of the design process, a leading voice in interactive audio and an essential facilitator within a diverse, cross-functional team. You will:

  • Drive projects and manage the full design lifecycle, from early ideation through to market launch, coordinating across teams and ensuring key milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Translate design briefs, strategies and creative visions into clear objectives and actions, guiding internal teams and external partners towards shared project goals.
  • Establish and communicate the sound design vision, direction and process, while aligning initiatives, setting priorities and providing constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Combine sound design and project management expertise to support high-quality, results-focused deliveries.
  • Build strong partnerships across the product development cycle and present concepts, projects and prototypes to stakeholders in clear and compelling ways.
  • Identify critical risks and development roadblocks, helping teams define practical action plans that keep projects moving forward.
  • Advocate for sound design from both creative and technical perspectives, providing precise analysis and documentation that supports brave, innovative concepts.

Play your part in our team succeeding

You will join the Sound Design Team within Interaction Design in Billund, Denmark. The team works across a varied portfolio of digital and physical products, partnering closely with model designers, marketers, app developers and other specialists to support interactive play innovation.

Together, you will contribute to new product experiences in development as well as products already available in the market. Your curiosity and innovative mindset will help push the boundaries of interactive play, create greater longevity in play and bring new experiences to children around the world.

Do you have what it takes?

To thrive in this position, you will bring a collaborative approach and enjoy working with cross-functional project teams, external vendors and strategic partners. You are an engaging communicator who can motivate and align others, produce clear and precise technical documentation and bring the entrepreneurial mindset needed to drive innovation.

You will also have:

  • Extensive professional experience in Sound Design and Audio Engineering, including technical implementation methods such as synthesis and procedural audio systems.
  • A strong portfolio of physical and digital products, either successfully launched or demonstrating leading innovation, where you led sound design from initial concept through to delivery.
  • Experience developing connected products, services, toys or video games, including developing and iterating audio system designs.
  • The ability to inspire and align designers, partners and stakeholders through hands-on demonstrations, engaging presentations and effective collaboration.
  • Expertise in designing, prototyping and visualising play experiences through both digital and physical methods.
  • Project management experience within an engineering or technical environment, including familiarity with Confluence, Jira or similar systems.
  • Industry-standard audio mixing and mastering capabilities.
  • Strong written and spoken English.

Experience in the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Screen-free interactive experiences.
  • Audio design and implementation for embedded hardware.
  • Psychoacoustics, early childhood education, research or communications.
  • Sonic branding or UX design.
  • A passion for creating magical experiences for children and exploring play in all its forms.

Please provide your CV, motivational letter, and portfolio in English.

It is mandatory to upload a portfolio (maximum upload size per file is 2 MB). If you have more to share than 2 MB, please add a link clearly highlighted in the CV.
