Our purpose is simple - to deliver a sustainable future for the world through science and collaboration. If you’re looking for a challenge and meaningful role, you’re in the right place.
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing Manager (Especialista de Compras I) – MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) based in São Paulo, Brazil. This professional will lead sourcing strategy, supplier management, and contract governance for the MRO portfolio across Dow's manufacturing sites in Brazil, acting as the key Procurement interface with Engineering and Maintenance teams at the plant level, with a strong focus on delivering savings, maximizing value, and strengthening Dow's financial performance.
The Sourcing Manager creates value for Dow by defining sourcing opportunities, developing and aligning sourcing strategies, leveraging supplier relationships, analyzing market conditions, and negotiating with suppliers and internal partners to optimize sustained value for Dow. The role requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of the discipline, combined with a technical understanding of industrial MRO materials and services, and basic knowledge of related disciplines. The incumbent acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and as a change agent driving the digital and AI-enabled transformation of the sourcing organization, continuously benchmarking against market best practices to bring innovative sourcing approaches into Dow.
This position works in close alignment with the Global MROCE Category Leaders, ensuring local execution in Brazil is fully connected to the global MROCE sourcing strategy, category roadmaps, and standardized ways of working. The role is expected to represent Brazil's priorities within the global category forums while translating global strategy into effective local execution across Dow's manufacturing sites.
In this role, you will need in-depth conceptual and working knowledge of your discipline, understand best practices and how they connect across functions, lead
projects with manageable risk and resource requirements, and serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. You should be comfortable explaining complex or sensitive information and building consensus across technical and business stakeholders.
You are responsible for analyzing and resolving complex problems, examining information from multiple sources, and using judgment to evaluate established and new solutions. Your performance impacts customer, operational, project, or service activities across your own team and other related teams, and requires you to work within established guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of MRO sourcing strategies across Dow's manufacturing sites in Brazil, covering categories such as electrical & instrumentation, industrial gases, PPE, PVF and spare parts, fully aligned with Global MROCE category strategies.
- Drive savings generation and value maximization through strategic negotiations, cost modeling, total cost of ownership analysis, and continuous identification of new cost-reduction and productivity opportunities.
- Responsible for the negotiation, execution, and implementation of commercial agreements and related work processes in accordance with regional and global MRO strategies, ensuring full contract compliance and governance.
- Utilize business acumen, market intelligence, and AI-enabled tools (spend analytics, contract analysis agents, market intelligence dashboards) to drive value from the market and influence stakeholders.
- Act as a change agent, accelerating digitalization and AI adoption within the sourcing organization, translating data into actionable insights and measurable value (savings, EBIT, productivity).
- Continuously benchmark against market trends and industry best practices, bringing innovative sourcing models, supplier solutions, and category strategies to strengthen Dow's competitive position.
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with Engineering, Maintenance, and site leadership across Brazil's manufacturing footprint, ensuring alignment between purchasing strategies and business/operational priorities.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance for a complex MRO supply base, proactively assessing and mitigating supply, quality, and compliance risks.
- Provide coaching and guidance to other sourcing team members, using influential leadership to elevate the performance of the workgroup.
- Prepare market intelligence reports, spend dashboards, and savings/value tracking insights for internal stakeholders, leveraging data and reporting tools (including AI copilots/agents) to support decision-making.
- Lead or contribute to cross-site/regional MRO projects (consolidation initiatives, e-auctions, tail spend reduction), with accountability for ongoing activities, objectives, and savings targets.
- Ensure operational Procurement requests are executed in compliance with category strategies, preferred supplier agreements, and relevant policies, in coordination with Global MROCE Category Leaders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (field of study open; no specific major required).
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Strategic Sourcing (mandatory); prior experience in MRO/technical procurement for industrial/manufacturing environments is a strong asset, though not eliminatory.
- Advanced/fluent English (mandatory), with experience operating within a global team structure.
- Intermediate Spanish is a plus.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, savings delivery, and supplier management.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, receive minimal guidance, and lead projects or project steps within broader initiatives.
- Experience interfacing with manufacturing, engineering, or maintenance teams is highly valued.
Your Skills:
- Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation: Strong commercial acumen to negotiate and manage complex supplier agreements, with a consistent focus on savings and value generation.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to build cost models, track savings, and connect sourcing decisions to financial performance and business impact.
- Technical/Industrial Acumen: Working knowledge of MRO materials and services; ability to engage credibly with Engineering and Maintenance teams.
- Sourcing & Procurement Tools: Working knowledge of sourcing and contract management platforms (e.g., Zycus, SAP Ariba, Coupa) to execute sourcing events, manage contracts, and ensure process compliance.
- Data & Analytics: Comfortable working with numbers, reports, and dashboards; proficient in Excel and data-driven decision-making.
- AI & Digital Tools: Ability to work with AI agents/Copilot for spend classification, market intelligence, contract analysis, and sourcing workflow automation — aligned with Dow's Procurement AI journey.
- Innovation & Market Benchmarking: Out-of-the-box thinking and curiosity, with the ability to research market trends and best practices and translate them into actionable sourcing strategy.
- Project Management: Ability to plan, execute, and oversee sourcing projects end-to-end, aligned with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Stakeholder & Strategic Communication: Ability to deliver purposeful, audience-focused messaging and build consensus with technical and business stakeholders across multiple sites, including global category forums.
- Resilience & Adaptability: Capacity to manage high and constant demand, prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Results Orientation: Strong drive to deliver value, cost savings, and service-level improvements.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Ability to build and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with strategic suppliers.
