Meet Slingshot At Slingshot Aerospace, we're on a mission to make space safer and more secure for everyone. Our work directly impacts global security, disaster response, climate monitoring, and the critical infrastructure that connects our world. We're a team of builders, thinkers, and problem-solvers who believe that the next generation of space operations will be powered by better data and smarter software. We move fast, we're not afraid to fail, and we believe the best ideas can come from anywhere—whether you're in engineering, sales, product, or operations. If you want to work on something that truly matters, with people who care deeply about the impact we're making and help shape the future of an industry that's just getting started, you're in the right place. What You’ll Be Launching As a Space Surveillance Systems Technician, you will help keep Slingshot’s Global Sensor Network (GSN) operating reliably around the world. The majority of your time will be spent remotely monitoring, diagnosing, and troubleshooting fielded sensor systems during your assigned business hours. You’ll need to understand how the systems operate conceptually and physically so you can translate what you are seeing remotely on a screen into what is likely happening with hardware in the field. You’ll investigate issues, document findings and actions taken, coordinate with teammates and engineering as needed, and provide a clear handoff to the team supporting the next timezone to maintain continuous global operations. You will also support the installation, maintenance, and repair of GSN systems in the field. Initially, this will include working alongside experienced team members on global deployments and maintenance activities as you build system knowledge and hands-on experience. Once fully competent, you may independently support installations and maintenance activities across Australia and New Zealand. Travel is expected to represent approximately 25% of the role at the high end, although individual periods may vary based on deployment schedules and operational needs. You’ll also support the operational logistics required to keep our sensor network running, including inventory tracking, preparing and shipping equipment, coordinating equipment movement, and maintaining accurate records. This work is expected to represent approximately 10% of the role. You’ll work closely with engineering and operations teams to identify recurring issues, improve troubleshooting and maintenance procedures, document system performance, and continuously improve the reliability and supportability of our global network. Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it) Monitor the health and performance of fielded GSN systems and conduct remote troubleshooting during assigned business hours. Diagnose hardware, software, networking, electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues using remote monitoring tools, logs, telemetry, documentation, and operational data. Translate remote system behavior into likely physical conditions in the field and determine appropriate troubleshooting or corrective actions. Document troubleshooting activities, system status, unresolved issues, and recommended next steps to enable effective handoffs between global operations teams and timezones. Escalate complex or recurring issues to engineering teams and provide clear technical information to support root-cause analysis and resolution. Perform routine system health checks, software and firmware updates, preventative maintenance activities, and corrective actions to maintain system uptime and data quality. Support field installation, integration, alignment, calibration, testing, maintenance, and repair of GSN hardware and software systems. Assist with global deployments while developing system expertise, with the expectation of independently supporting Australia and New Zealand sites once fully trained. Ensure installation and maintenance activities follow engineering documentation, safety standards, and operational requirements. Maintain accurate inventory and asset records and support equipment movement between Slingshot locations, depots, vendors, and deployment sites. Coordinate basic logistics activities including equipment pickup, packaging, shipping, receiving, and shipment tracking. Maintain clear technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, maintenance records, and installation results. Provide field and operational feedback to engineering teams to improve system reliability, maintainability, and support processes. Contribute to training materials and knowledge-sharing across the global operations team. Perform other duties and operational support activities as needed, approximately 10% of the role. Pre-flight Checklist 3+ years of experience supporting optical, electrical, robotic, automated, technical field, or similarly complex systems, OR a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline. Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across mechanical, electrical, computer, networking, or integrated systems. Ability to understand a system conceptually and connect remote diagnostic information, logs, alerts, and system behavior to physical equipment and field conditions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, outcomes, and handoffs. Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues or engage engineering and other technical resources. Working knowledge of Linux and cloud application tooling. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, drawings, and system diagrams. Basic proficiency with spreadsheets and operational recordkeeping, including inventory or asset tracking. Ability to coordinate routine shipping, receiving, and equipment logistics activities with a high degree of accuracy. Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed, generally up to approximately 25% of the role. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. during installation, maintenance, shipping, or equipment-handling activities. Ability to work for extended periods in hot and cold outdoor environments when supporting field installations or maintenance. Ability to satisfy applicable security, background, and customer-site access requirements associated with the role. Where required by a program or customer, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain the applicable Australian Government security clearance. Bonus Cargo 2+ years of experience in operations, technical support, sustainment, or mission operations. Experience troubleshooting technical systems remotely or supporting geographically distributed equipment. Experience working in a follow-the-sun or globally distributed operations environment, including documented handoffs between teams or timezones. Experience with preventative maintenance and standard work procedures. Experience with inventory management, asset tracking, shipping, receiving, logistics coordination, or depot operations. Experience supporting equipment deployments, installations, or field maintenance. Knowledge or experience with RF or electronic warfare systems. Observatory operations and/or telescope sustainment experience. Experience with QA/QC, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies. We're building a constellation here, not looking for identical satellites. Every member of the team brings different capabilities to the same mission. If your orbit intersects with ours and you're mission-ready, send it.
