Spanish-English Medical Interpreter (Remote)

About the Role
i-Call International is hiring fluent Spanish-English interpreters to provide consecutive medical interpretation services remotely. In this role, you will facilitate clear and accurate communication between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare providers, ensuring that medical information is conveyed professionally and confidentially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate interpretation between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and other medical staff.
- Interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, treatment plans, and healthcare-related information.
- Facilitate communication while maintaining cultural sensitivity and professionalism.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional interpretation standards.
- Document interpretation sessions when required, including relevant session details.
- Keep medical terminology and healthcare knowledge up to date.
Qualifications
- Fluency in both Spanish and English.
- Previous experience in interpretation or translation; medical interpretation experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare-related conversations.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Strong cultural awareness and the ability to remain professional under pressure.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential medical information.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum internet speed of 15 Mbps for both download and upload.
- A reliable PC or laptop with at least a 5th-generation processor and 8 GB RAM.
- USB headset (mandatory).
- HD webcam.
- Stable LAN/Ethernet internet connection.
- Quiet, professional workspace suitable for confidential conversations.
Work Schedule
- Hourly shift-based program aligned with the EST time zone.
- Availability for both Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI).
- Shift timings will be communicated a few days before training begins.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $6 per hour.
- Monthly payments through Payoneer.
- Paid training at 50% of the agreed hourly rate.
- Attendance and quality assurance (QA) bonuses may be available.
Training and Onboarding
- Mandatory training: 80 hours over 10 business days.
- Training is paid at half the regular hourly rate.
- Training compensation is conditional upon passing the assessment and commencing work with the company.
- Candidates must pass the final LanguageStat assessment to receive client portal credentials.
- Technical training and platform guidance will be provided.
- Leave is generally not permitted during the first month, except for emergencies with prior supervisor approval.
