JOB SUMMARY

The AI Content Writing Strategist turns the digital discovery strategy set by the Digital Engine Optimization (DEO) Manager into useful, authoritative content that helps customers make informed moving and storage decisions.

This role researches the questions customers are asking, identifies where PODS has content gaps, and creates and improves content for traditional search, AI-powered search, answer engines, and other digital discovery experiences. The Strategist writes content that is clear enough for customers to understand, structured enough for machines to accurately retrieve and summarize, and authoritative enough to earn visibility and citations.

The role also helps lead an AI-assisted content production process that increases speed and scale without compromising accuracy, usefulness, brand voice, or editorial quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation & Optimization

• Research, write, edit, and optimize high-quality content across PODS.com, including service pages, location content, FAQs, comparison content, guides, and other digital experiences.

• Write content that answers customer questions clearly and directly while supporting organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and broader digital discovery goals.

• Structure content for easy understanding and extraction using descriptive headings, concise answers, defined terminology, lists, tables, FAQs, and other appropriate formats.

• Write from authoritative sources and subject-matter expertise so factual claims are specific, current, and verifiable rather than vague or overly promotional.

• Refresh, consolidate, or retire outdated, duplicative, thin, or underperforming content, particularly information related to pricing, services, locations, products, policies, and scheduling.

• Support location and service area content with useful, market-specific information rather than duplicative or generic copy.

• Partner with the DEO Manager on internal linking, information architecture, structured data, and other optimization requirements.

Customer Questions & Content Opportunities

• Build and maintain an understanding of the questions customers ask throughout the moving and storage journey using search data, AI query patterns, customer feedback, reviews, customer care insights, competitive research, and other available sources.

• Identify topics where PODS has no answer, an incomplete answer, outdated information, or content that is difficult for customers and search systems to find.

• Partner with the DEO Manager to prioritize new content, rewrites, consolidations, and optimization opportunities based on customer needs, discoverability, and business impact.

• Translate complicated moving, storage, pricing, scheduling, and service information into useful, plain-language content.

• Work with subject matter experts to turn PODS data, expertise, research, and customer insights into original, authoritative content.

AI & Answer Engine Content

• Create content designed to be accurately understood, summarized, referenced, and cited by search engines, AI assistants, and answer engines.

• Evaluate how AI-powered discovery experiences interpret and summarize PODS content and identify opportunities to improve clarity, accuracy, and representation.

• Monitor how PODS services, products, policies, and other important facts are represented in AI-generated answers and flag inaccuracies or content gaps to the DEO Manager.

• Develop or revise source content to address recurring misinformation, ambiguity, or incomplete answers about PODS.

• Ensure important qualifications, disclaimers, and contextual information remain clear and closely connected to the claims they support.

• Help maintain consistent factual information across PODS-owned content and content supplied to relevant partner or co-branded channels.

AI-Assisted Content Production

• Use generative AI and other content technologies to improve research, ideation, briefing, drafting, optimization, and editing workflows while maintaining human editorial oversight.

• Develop and maintain prompts, templates, editorial standards, reference materials, and brand guardrails that improve the consistency and quality of AI-assisted content.

• Fact-check and substantively edit AI-assisted drafts before publication, ensuring content meets PODS standards for accuracy, originality, usefulness, and brand voice.

• Identify appropriate and inappropriate uses of AI within the content-development process and help document best practices for the broader Marketing organization.

• Test new AI content tools and workflows and recommend approaches that meaningfully improve quality, efficiency, or scale.

Brand, Measurement, & Collaboration

• Serve as a steward of PODS’ brand voice across digital content, keeping language clear, useful, human, and appropriate for customers navigating potentially complex moving decisions.

• Partner with the DEO Manager to evaluate content performance using organic visibility, engagement, AI citations and mentions, qualified traffic, quote activity, and other relevant indicators.

• Use performance data and customer insights to continuously improve existing content rather than treating publication as the end of the content lifecycle.

• Partner with subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate, appropriately reviewed, and aligned with broader initiatives.

• Stay current on changes in search, AI-powered discovery, content technology, and digital publishing and apply relevant developments to PODS content practices.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES

• Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Manager / Director

• Job is not directly responsible for direct report (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management)
