Job Description

bp Technical Solutions India (TSI) in Pune is seeking a Specialist Geophysicist to support its Subsurface Global Solutions and Upstream business. The role focuses primarily on delivering high-quality Controlled Source Electro-Magnetic (CSEM) work and contributing to broader applied geophysical analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver CSEM projects supporting exploration and appraisal activities.
  • Conduct CSEM feasibility studies, survey design, modelling, inversion, interpretation and data quality control.
  • Build resistivity models and perform 3D inversion using specialist CSEM applications.
  • Integrate CSEM results with seismic, well and geological data.
  • Support rock physics, seismic analysis, seismic reservoir characterisation and integrated subsurface studies.
  • Provide specialist CSEM expertise and contribute to technical assurance of geophysical products and contractor deliverables.
  • Develop relationships with regional subsurface teams, project teams, external contractors and internal technology teams.
  • Support knowledge sharing and development of CSEM capabilities across bp, with the potential to grow into a technical leadership role.

Required Qualifications And Skills:

  • Geophysics or Geoscience degree from a recognised university.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant applied geophysics experience with CSEM knowledge.
  • Strong hands-on experience in CSEM/EM modelling, inversion and interpretation.
  • Experience with CSEM survey design, feasibility studies and resistivity model building.
  • Experience working in Linux/HPC environments.
  • Experience with CSEM modelling/inversion software such as EMGS tools or equivalent.
  • Experience integrating CSEM with seismic, well and geological data.
  • Strong communication, customer engagement and technical delivery skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across global teams.

Good-to-have Skills:

  • Rock physics and seismic reservoir characterisation.
  • AVO, FWI and other advanced geophysical products.
  • Petrel and seismic interpretation workflows.
  • Offshore exploration and appraisal projects.
  • Contractor deliverable management or quality control.

Additional Information:

  • Up to 10% travel is expected.
  • Relocation within India is available.
