WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Specialist, Safety – Compliance reports to the Manager, Safety Management System (SMS) and Occupational Health & Safety to ensure safety assurance, compliance, and adherence to regulatory requirements by monitoring internal policies and procedures; state and federal regulations; and advising Safety Management on needed actions for CapMetro.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

- Support all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan with focus on Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance.
- Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation; provide information to the director for approval.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal agencies by monitoring and analyzing existing and new legislation; audit for adherence to requirements; participate in cross-functional teams to advise management on needed actions.
- Ensure compliance by performing standardized audits and recommend new policies and procedures.
- Collect agency data to perform compliance related data analyses, identify trends, and generate key metrics and reporting.
- Generate, coordinate, and deliver appropriate compliance plans to facility staff members.
- Perform quality and safety audits and inspections frequently to identify deficiencies; ensure prompt and appropriate corrective action.
Support all audits, hazard management process, management of change, employee safety reporting requirements and Corrective Action Plans (CAPS) efforts.
Support an agency hazard reporting system as part of safety assurance.
Continually monitor processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Maintain incident logs for accurate tracking of claims; compile statistics to prepare trend reports, exposure records, and other various reports.
- Provide detailed reports and statistical data, as required
Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in safety, Project Management, Business Administration, or other related fields.
Five (5) years’ work experience in safety, project management, or transportation administration.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge CFR 673 and Safety Management Systems a plus.
Maintain knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in area of regulatory compliance.
Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EHS data management software.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently, self-starter, and motivator.
Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally.
Ability to use sound judgement and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.
Consistent attendance.
Demonstrated ability to accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. This position works with multiple project timelines and is responsible for managing employees performing work of a complex nature.
Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment.
Incumbents must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions.

Mobility Status:
As a hybrid position, the incumbent is expected to work in the office as needed. There will be access to touchdown/collaboration spaces when on site. Must be in-office for socialization, strategic collaboration, supervision, oversight, and accountability as needed.
