Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $95,000.00 Annually
What we’re looking for:
As a SQL Server ETL Developer, you will design, build, and support the data pipelines and databases that power reporting and analytics across RSNA. Working primarily in SQL Server, T-SQL, and SSIS, you will move and transform data between SQL Server and our other source systems, vendor platforms, and file-based feeds, keeping our data systems accurate, reliable, and performant.
You will own your work from requirements gathering and design through testing, deployment, and production support, partnering with analysts and business stakeholders to deliver data they can trust.
This job might be for you if you're interested in:
- Working at a not-for-profit, mission-based organization that focuses on its members.
- A welcoming and supportive environment that gives you an opportunity to impact patient care.
- Excellent work-life balance – reasonable working hours, generally no evenings or weekends in a hybrid or remote environment.
- A competitive compensation package that includes outstanding medical/dental benefits, incredible long-term savings benefits, generous time off (including a week-long Winter Break), paid parental leave and more.
- Training and professional development opportunities.
- The challenge of creating new solutions for a variety of business needs.
- An opportunity to work with a team that has longevity at RSNA, a culture of continuous improvement, a true sense of teamwork and support, and a fabulous sense of humor.
What you’ll do:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that move data from various source systems to their destinations using SSIS, APIs, scripts, and other tools as needed.
- Write and optimize T-SQL stored procedures, views, functions, and queries for reporting and analytics.
- Build incremental load patterns (watermarking, Change Data Capture, MERGE/upsert) for SQL Server Integration.
- Tune performance using execution plans, indexing, Query Store, and package-level optimization.
- Design, build, and maintain dimensional data models (facts, dimensions, and slowly changing dimensions) for the data warehouse and Enterprise Data Marts, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and ready for reporting.
- Build data quality checks, logging, error handling, and alerting into ETL processes (such as row count reconciliation, data validation rules, and failure notifications), so issues are caught early and resolved before they affect reporting.
- Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Agent jobs and SSIS executions, resolving failures and data discrepancies.
- Manage code in Git and follow team practices for code review, testing, and deployment.
- Gather requirements, translate them into technical designs, estimate, and document your work.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing ETL solutions with Microsoft SSIS.
- Strong T-SQL skills, including stored procedures, window functions, CTEs, and complex joins.
- Experience tuning query and database performance, including execution plans, indexing, and resolving slow-running or blocking queries.
- Solid grasp of relational design and data warehousing (star schemas, slowly changing dimensions).
- Experience monitoring and troubleshooting SQL Agent jobs and production ETL processes.
- Familiarity with source control (Git) and structured development, testing, and deployment practices.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have:
- SQL Server 2022/2025 Experience, Power BI/DAX, and/or .Net/Python/PowerShell scripting.
- CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) or cloud data services (AWS, Azure Data Factory).
- SQL-based transformation frameworks such as DBT or SQLMesh.
