The Highlights:

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Catholic Campus Ministry & Vincentian Service, the Senior Chaplain of Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) oversees Catholic liturgical ministry and identified CCM programs and collaborations. The Senior Chaplain provides pastoral and spiritual leadership to students, faculty, and staff, maintains a regular, visible institutional pastoral presence and engagement, and primary oversight of the Catholic liturgical life at DePaul University. The position leads public prayer, worship, and ritual and provides pastoral response in crisis situations. The Chaplain works effectively with internal and external stakeholders and develops their programming in light of key collaborative and strategic cross-departmental, cross-divisional, and cross-institutional priorities. This position participates in a cross-functional team, manages program budgets as well as assists in divisional efforts of mission integration.

What You'll Do:

1. Oversees Catholic liturgical life: Oversee the planning, recruiting, related budgeting, collaboration, promoting, implementing, and evaluation of the liturgical ministry program, including musical aspects, as well as the training/formation of student leaders/teams.

2. Manages strategic CCM program/communities and collaborations:
• Oversee the planning, recruiting, related budgeting, collaboration, promoting, implementing, and evaluation of strategic program/communities as well as related training/formation.
• Identified programming & Community Building for faculty, staff, and students.
• Manage Pastoral Council & Catholic Learning Community.
• Collaborate with parish, Seton Soup Kitchen, CWCIT, Catholic Studies, and other DePaul stakeholders.
• Social Media, Marketing, & Outreach.

3. Supports departmental/divisional priorities, including:
• DMM cross-functional team;
• College/Area Mission Integration Team;
• Community service/immersion support;
• Aids University community in articulating and developing its understanding, integration, and application of religion, theology, DePaul’s mission and spirituality with daily life, higher education, and college student development.

4. Provides university pastoral care/leadership, including invocations/public prayer, crisis response, hospital visits, funerals.

5. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position supervises part-time CM chaplains and a team of 4-7 student workers.

Oversees related program and student worker budgets.

What You'll Need:

• Roman Catholic in good standing who holds a Masters in theology/ministry.
• Minimum, 5 years as a chaplain in Catholic Campus Ministry/higher education.
• Education/Training in liturgical studies, sacramental theology, or a similar discipline preferred.
• Expected training in/knowledge of current Catholic liturgical teaching and documents.
• Experience in music, liturgical music, music performance, or music education, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating liturgies at a parish or university setting.
- Experience in planning, promoting, recruiting, and implementing retreats.
- Experience in working with diverse populations.
• Working knowledge and experience (training/certification preferred) in youth/young adult faith formation and development.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge and skills within current Catholic sacramental and liturgical life.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills and ability to manage multiple constituents.
• Pastoral care skills, particularly with young adults/college students and adults/faculty/staff.
• Accompany individuals through crisis, grief, identity questions, and vocational discernment.
• Articulates pastoral responses that invite the community into worship and lead worship as appropriate.
• Demonstrated skill in leading theological/spiritual reflection.
• Strong aptitude for collaboration with parish staff and university stakeholders.
• Integrates an appreciation of diverse forms of multi-cultural expression into ministry.
• Communicates effectively and educates/forms students in the Catholic and Vincentian identity of DePaul University.
• Proficient with Microsoft applications.
• Proficient with social media and budgeting platforms/technology.
• Works on weekends and evenings when necessary for retreats and student programming.
• Some on-call emergency evenings are expected.
• Travel between campuses and to off-site locations required.
• Willingness and ability to lead public prayer and ritual.
• Proven capacity to work well and thrive in intercultural and interfaith context.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $56,222 to $72,000.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
