Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

What is the role?

The Senior Commerce Platform Manager will play a critical role in shaping and scaling Roku's commerce financial platform, ensuring that partner monetization, onboarding, billing, and payout capabilities are operationally efficient, financially accurate, and compliant with regulatory and contractual requirements. In this role, you will drive cross-functional platform initiatives, define roadmap priorities, and establish the financial controls and compliance frameworks needed to support evolving business models. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Tax, and Content Distribution to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into scalable platform solutions. Furthermore, you will proactively identify operational risks and ensure comprehensive readiness across accounting and billing systems for all new product and partner launches. This highly collaborative position combines commerce platform strategy, technical roadmap ownership, and regulatory compliance, offering the opportunity to influence how Roku builds and scales its global commerce ecosystem. You will report directly to the Director, Commerce Financial Platform. [Insert Pay Transparency Verbiage Here]

What are the responsibilities of the role?

  • Own the compliance posture of partner onboarding and payout workflows, including partner identity, tax compliance validation, tax reporting, sanctions, regulatory screening, and the controls that evidence them
  • Design, document, and maintain financial and operational controls across order lifecycle, billing, and payout systems, ensuring audit-readiness for internal audit, external auditors, and SOX
  • Partner with Legal, Tax, Finance, and Risk to translate regulatory and contractual requirements into platform specifications and track them through delivery
  • Lead remediation of compliance findings and drive systemic root-cause fixes for financially impactful defects
  • Evaluate new commercial constructs, partner models, and payment methods against payout capabilities, onboarding readiness, and compliance requirements prior to contract execution
  • Drive automation across partner onboarding, payout approvals, and disbursement workflows to enhance accuracy, traceability, and operational scale
  • Minimize manual adjustments and post-contract rework stemming from unsupported payout logic or onboarding gaps
  • Own the roadmap and backlog for platform initiatives across order lifecycle, billing, and payment integrations, aligned with downstream payout, reconciliation, and reporting dependencies
  • Define system contracts and event standards needed to support control and compliance requirements in collaboration with architects and engineering leads
  • Conduct comprehensive impact assessments for product, payment, and platform changes affecting billing, payouts, reporting, or financial liabilities
  • Establish financial and compliance readiness checkpoints as part of launch and deployment governance, partnering with TPM and Commerce Governance
  • Protect reconciliation integrity and month-end financial close readiness from platform and architectural changes
  • Report on compliance posture, control health, and key operational risks to executive leadership, escalating systemic issues promptly

What experience would help someone be successful in this role at Roku?

  • Comprehensive understanding of the global payments ecosystem, including payment service providers (PSPs), settlement workflows, payouts, disbursements, and tax calculation/reporting
  • Proven track record designing, implementing, and operating financial and operational controls in an audited environment (SOX or equivalent), working directly with internal and external auditors
  • Working knowledge of relevant financial regulatory domains, including KYC/KYB, sanctions screening, tax reporting, and PCI compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to own a technical platform roadmap and successfully deliver cross-functional initiatives through Engineering and Product teams without direct authority
  • Deep familiarity with order lifecycle, billing systems, and event-driven architectures sufficient to assess downstream business impact and define detailed functional requirements
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex legal, tax, and regulatory mandates into clear technical and operational requirements
  • Practical experience leveraging AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, identify risks, and scale platform operations
  • Background in subscription billing models, digital marketplace payouts, or ledger/journal automation
  • Experience operating within large-scale, high-growth, or global platform technology companies
  • Demonstrated experience in people management, team leadership, or formal mentorship

What should I know about Roku's culture?

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
