About the Role
The Senior Data Reliability Engineer is an integral part of the Data Reliability (DRE) Team. You will analyze and externalize DoubleVerify's data internally, and you will monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the company's data pipelines and technologies.
The role combines hands-on operational work with development. You will investigate client-facing tickets and the business logic behind our data. You will also build automation and tooling that reduces manual ticket work and improves data quality at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain in-depth knowledge of how data is collected, processed, and externalized to clients within DoubleVerify's architecture
- Investigate and resolve client-facing tickets, including data investigations and analysis of the business logic behind our data
- Develop automation and tooling that streamlines ticket handling and reduces recurring operational work
- Script in Python and SQL extensively
- Create reports and data visualizations using analysis tools such as Splunk and Grafana
- Work with Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake, OLTP databases, MongoDB, and similar technologies
- Work with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Helm charts, and related tools
- Build strong relationships with teams across the company, solve operational issues, and implement quality improvements
- Participate in the on-call rotation - the rotation covers one week of on-call roughly every 5-6 weeks
About You
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable untangling a complex data issue and building the tooling that keeps it from happening again. They are curious about how data moves through a complex system and take pride in making it dependable for the clients who rely on it.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent experience. Degree in a technical field preferred
- 3+ years of experience writing Advanced SQL and scripting languages, Python, bash, etc
- 3+ years of Linux experience
- Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Helm charts, and fundamentals of DevOps
- 3+ years of experience working with SQL/NoSQL Databases and data warehouses such as Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake, MongoDB, etc.
- Knowledge of Cloud computing fundamentals and experience working with public cloud providers such as GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.
- Experience working with GitHub, CI/CD, GitLab, or other automation/delivery tools
- Good understanding of BI and Data Warehousing concepts (ETL, OLAP vs. OLTP, Slowly Changing Dimensions)
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly, learn new skill sets, and be able to understand operational challenges
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills with a clear focus under pressure
- Must be proactive with a proven ability to execute multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building with diverse, global, cross-functional teams
- Good understanding of process automation
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Experience developing AI agents or LLM-based applications
- Experience with LLM operations and observability, such as monitoring agents in production and measuring agent accuracy and performance
- Previous experience in AdTech
This position is full-time and located in our New York City headquarters offices offering a hybrid work model from office and remote.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined by a number of non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications for the role, level, skills, experience, location, and internal equity relative to peers at DV.
The estimated salary range for this role, based on the qualifications set forth in the job description, is between $94,000 $175,000. This role will also be eligible for bonus/commission (as applicable), equity, and benefits.
