This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-impact software solutions across the full technology stack. This role requires deep technical expertise in full-stack development, JVM-based services, distributed systems, big data processing, and AI-powered applications.

Beyond technical excellence, the ideal candidate demonstrates strong ownership, clear communication, and the ability to influence engineering direction across teams. You will be expected to drive complex initiatives from conception to production, mentor engineers, and serve as a trusted technical partner for product and business stakeholders.

Required Knowledge And Experiences

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Design, build, and operate highly scalable and reliable applications and services.
• Lead architecture and technical design discussions for complex systems and platform capabilities.
• Develop full-stack solutions spanning frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, and data platforms.
• Build and optimize distributed systems leveraging JVM technologies and cloud-native architectures.
• Design and implement large-scale data processing pipelines using Apache Spark.
• Drive adoption of AI-powered capabilities including copilots, intelligent search, recommendations, and workflow automation.
• Establish engineering standards related to performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and security.

Ownership & Execution

• Own large, ambiguous problem spaces and drive them to successful outcomes with minimal oversight.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and execution plans.
• Proactively identify technical debt, operational risks, and scalability challenges before they impact customers.
• Balance short-term delivery goals with long-term platform sustainability.
• Lead incident resolution efforts and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Demonstrate end-to-end accountability for services and customer outcomes.

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both engineering and non-technical audiences.
• Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, and leadership teams to align technical investments with business goals.
• Drive technical discussions and influence decisions across organizational boundaries.
• Present technical proposals, design reviews, and architectural recommendations with clarity and confidence.
• Build alignment among stakeholders with differing priorities and perspectives.
• Provide clear, actionable feedback during design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring sessions.

Mentorship & Team Development

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical coaching and career development support.
• Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code quality standards, and knowledge sharing.
• Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, engineering excellence, and continuous learning.
• Lead by example through strong technical contributions and professional conduct.

Required Knowledge And Experiences

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience designing and operating large-scale, distributed software systems.
• Strong expertise in Java and the JVM ecosystem.
• Experience building microservices and cloud-native applications.
• Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Strong understanding of system design, distributed computing, and software architecture principles.
• Experience building and optimizing large-scale data processing solutions using Apache Spark.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices including testing, code quality, CI/CD, and observability.

• Exposure to AI agents and workflow automation frameworks.
