Requirements
Key
Responsibilities
- Microservices
Development: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable
Java microservices using an Umbrella pattern architecture to ensure
modularity and clean dependency management across 50+ services.
- Containerization
& Orchestration: Package applications using Docker and manage
orchestration within AWS/EKS, utilizing Helm charts for standardized
deployment configurations and Kubectl for cluster interaction and
debugging.
- Traffic &
Routing Management: Configure and optimize ingress routing, load
balancing, and edge routing using Traefik to ensure secure,
high-availability service communication.
- Data &
Messaging Architecture: Work with robust data layers including Amazon
RDS (relational) and Apache Cassandra (NoSQL), while managing distributed
event streaming via Amazon MSK (Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka).
- Platform
Modernization: Lead the architectural planning and execution for an
upcoming Java upgrade, ensuring compatibility, modernizing legacy
patterns, and maximizing performance.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
- Java
Expertise: 7+ years of professional software development experience
with deep expertise in Java
- AWS &
Kubernetes: Strong hands-on experience deploying and managing
production workloads in AWS/EKS, including building and tuning Helm charts
and troubleshooting via Kubectl.
- API Gateway
& Routing: Practical experience implementing API gateways or
ingress controllers, specifically Traefik.
- Distributed
Data Systems: Solid understanding of both relational databases (RDS)
and distributed NoSQL databases (Cassandra).
- Event-Driven
Architecture: Proven track record working with distributed streaming
platforms, specifically managing topics, producers, and consumers in
Amazon MSK / Kafka.
- Architectural
Patterns: Experience working within large-scale setups using patterns
like the Umbrella pattern to manage monorepos or multi-module microservice
ecosystems.
Nice
to Have
- Experience
migrations or major version upgrades of Java (e.g., migrating to Java 17
or 21
- Knowledge of
service mesh architectures and cloud-native security best practices
- AWS Certified
Solutions Architect or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
Clearance: Must have the
ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance, at minimum
