You will independently lead primary consumer research, translate consumer and marketplace insights into clear business implications, and partner closely with Marketing and cross-functional teams to shape brand strategies and initiatives.
This is an individual contributor role ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in consumer research who can independently move from a business question through research design, execution, synthesis and recommendation.
In this role, you will:
- Lead primary consumer research from end to end, independently developing learning plans, selecting appropriate methodologies, designing research materials and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
- Partner with Marketing and cross-functional teams to identify important business and consumer questions and determine the right learning approach.
- Apply a range of qualitative and quantitative consumer research methodologies to uncover consumer needs, behaviors, motivations and opportunities.
- Bring together primary research, syndicated data and other available information to develop a holistic view of the consumer and marketplace.
- Translate insights into clear business implications, moving beyond reporting findings to identify opportunities, risks and recommended actions.
- Deliver compelling, consumer-led stories and presentations that influence brand strategies and business decisions.
- Monitor brand health across measures including awareness, consideration, satisfaction, brand equity and sales performance, connecting these measures back to the broader consumer story.
- Manage external research partners and vendors, including research proposals, study design and execution, and delivery of findings.
- Champion the consumer perspective and help embed consumer-centric thinking across the organization.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required.
- 8+ years of Consumer Insights and related experience within a leading CPG, consumer-focused and/or technology organization.
- Strong technical expertise in primary consumer research, with demonstrated ability to independently design and execute both qualitative and quantitative research.
- Experience translating human-centered consumer insights into actionable recommendations that influence brand and business strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic advisor to Marketing and cross-functional business partners.
- Ability to integrate consumer research with syndicated, marketplace and business data to develop a broader perspective and stronger recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to determine the right research approach when faced with ambiguous business questions or resource constraints.
- Excellent storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex findings and communicate them in clear, compelling business terms.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience partnering with teams such as Marketing, Product Development and Creative.
- Natural curiosity and empathy for consumers, with the ability to champion the consumer voice across teams and the broader organization.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple brands, stakeholders and research initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
