Senior Manager, Strategic Brand Partnerships
Black Girl Vitamins | Reports to Head of Strategy & Partnerships | Chicago (hybrid) or remote, full-time
About Black Girl Vitamins
Black Girl Vitamins is one of the fastest-growing wellness companies in the country, and the first supplement brand built specifically for Black women. We started as a direct-to-consumer business and now reach our community through our website, Amazon, and Walmart, with a subscription base of women who stay with us for years because we were built for them.
We sponsor collegiate and professional athletic teams, fund medical scholarships, and host Black Girl Wellness Fest. The next chapter is building partnerships with brands, media platforms, sports organizations, universities, and cultural institutions that reach her where she already is and grow the business. This role exists to make sure every partnership we sign is worth it: for her, for our partner, and for BGV.
The role
Today, partnership opportunities come to BGV one at a time, and each one is negotiated, activated, and measured in its own way. Without a shared standard for what a partnership should return, it is hard to compare them, renew them with confidence, or grow the ones that work.
You will change that. You will build our partnership roadmap, decide which opportunities deserve the BGV name, negotiate the terms, and make sure every activation pays back in customers, revenue, or brand equity we can point to. You are not an event coordinator or a relationship keeper. You are the person who owns the partnership portfolio and its results.
What you will do
Build the partnership roadmap. Develop BGV's multi-year co-branding and partnership plan across CPG and lifestyle brands, media platforms, sports organizations, universities, and cultural institutions. Know which partners fit our customer and mission, and which do not.
Source and close the right deals. Pitch, negotiate, and close co-marketing, product cross-promotion, affiliate, and sponsorship agreements on terms that work for both sides. Bring a clear view of partnership economics to every conversation.
Run our institutional sponsorships. Own activation for our HBCU athletic programs, professional sports teams, and health advocacy partners, so each one shows up for her and returns something we can measure.
Bring our experiences to life. Help plan and deliver Black Girl Wellness Fest, consumer pop-ups, retail activations, and wellness summits that drive acquisition, retention, and brand equity.
Make every partnership go further. Work with creative, social, public relations, and growth so each partnership and activation is amplified across digital and physical touchpoints.
Set the scorecard before you sign. Agree on success metrics before every activation: impressions, customer acquisition cost, email and SMS capture, earned media, and direct revenue. Track sponsorship revenue, partner contributions, and expenses against them.
Close the loop. Run a recap after every major partnership or activation, and bring the results and your recommendation to renew, change, or end it to the executive team.
Build relationships that last. Earn the trust of partner executives, agencies, and community leaders, so the best partners come back.
What you own and what you do not
You own the partnership roadmap, deal terms within your approved budget, sponsorship activation, and the results of every partnership.
Creative and Social own content and campaign creative. Public Relations owns press. Growth owns paid media and performance channels. Community owns our relationship with individual customers, superfans, and ambassadors. The executive team approves partnerships above your budget authority and anything that puts the BGV name on another brand's product. This role is where every partnership is chosen, negotiated, and held to account.
Your authority
Within the budget and criteria the executive team approves, you can say yes or no to partnership opportunities, negotiate terms, and commit BGV to activations. You hold partners and internal teams to what was agreed, with the respect and clarity that keeps relationships strong. Deals above your authority go to the executive team with your recommendation.
Who you are
You have the experience. About 5 years of progressive experience in brand partnerships, integrated marketing, business development, or experiential marketing in CPG, health and wellness, or lifestyle. Deals you personally negotiated and closed matter more than titles.
You can make the business case. You can model a partnership's economics, read a sponsorship budget, and explain to a CEO why a deal is or is not worth doing.
You close. You pitch with confidence to C-suite leaders, agency heads, and nonprofit partners, and you structure creative agreements both sides are glad to sign.
You have run big, visible experiences. You have conceived, budgeted, and delivered complex events, activations, and multichannel campaigns, and you know what it takes on the ground.
You run your own projects. You manage several partnerships at once without losing track of the details, and you do not need a coordinator to keep your work moving.
You know our customer and her culture. You understand the communities she belongs to, the wellness trends she follows, and the institutions she trusts. A personal connection to our community is a strong plus.
Your first 90 days
30 days: You have reviewed every active partnership and sponsorship, including what it costs and what it returns, and shared clear criteria for which partners fit BGV.
60 days: Every active sponsorship has success metrics and a tracking plan, and you have a qualified pipeline of new partners.
90 days: You have presented a 12-month partnership roadmap to the executive team and closed or renewed your first partnership on terms you negotiated.
How you will be measured
Three numbers. Partnership revenue and partner contributions against plan. Return on every partnership and activation, measured against the scorecard set before it launched. And new customers and email and SMS sign-ups acquired through partnerships. We will also track partner renewals as a health check on the portfolio.
Compensation and location
We offer a salary range of $135,000 - $145,000, depending on experience, plus a performance bonus. Health, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, and unlimited PTO. This is a full-time role based in Chicago (hybrid) or remote.
Hiring process
A short application, a screening call, a conversation with the hiring manager and a presentation. Some finalists will also have a final conversation with a member of our leadership team.
