Position Summary
Join our dynamic Financial Operations Team at Ogletree Deakins as a Sr. Matter Information Analyst. A team member of the Matter Billing Information team within the Financial Operations department. Oversees, and supports as necessary, performing a variety of data changes as part of complex client/matter rates and pricing data management. Works independently requiring minimal assistance on non-routine tasks. Assumes and manages project assignments. Trains new team members, as necessary, and acts as a mentor and role model to junior team members. Assists and supports the Matter Information Sr. Manager, as necessary.

Essential Functions
- Demonstrate a superior understanding of rate code changes, client/matter concepts, and structure in a law firm environment.
- Analyze alternative fee arrangements to determine the correct rate structure and matter plans for an agreement. Provide guidance regarding appropriate rate and rate methodology to be applied at either the client or individual matter. Set up complex rates structures such as multipayors.
- Perform various types of data changes as part of routine client/matter data management. This includes address and contact changes and matter description changes. Confer with Supervisor and Sr. Manager of Matter Information regarding process changes.
- Perform various types of matter data changes such as billing instructions, bill groups, insurance coverage information on matters, ebilling information and updating joint bill ID’s.
- Review Billing Guidelines and Engagement letters to ensure matters are set up appropriately.
- Create and apply matter plans.
- Review New Business Intake Form: Discern appropriate rate to be applied at either the client or individual matter in a timely fashion. Consult with Senior Manager, Matter Information as required.
- Timekeeper Maintenance: Update rates for timekeepers Add and disable timekeepers as needed on a daily basis.
- Troubleshooting: Work independently and answer complex questions and provide reports as requested regarding rates.
- Using SQL and BI reports audit matter data on an ongoing basis.
- Take a lead role in the yearly Alternate Rates Review process.
- Cross Function Training: Willingness to cross train in other functions within the Matter Information team and assist where needed.
- Create and update team policies, procedures and work instructions to be reviewed by Senior Manager, Matter Information..
- Perform various levels of compliance monitoring and follow-up, as necessary as requested by the Office of General Counsel.
- Assume and manage projects, as necessary.
- Train new and/or existing team members in any aspect of assigned job functions and monitor learning progress and adherence to job requirements.
- Act as a mentor and role model to junior team members.
- Actively assist and support the Matter Information Supervisor and Sr. Manager in daily operations and functions.
- Attend and participate in Matter Information team meetings.
Requirements
- 4+ years of law firm or similar experience
Excellent and consistent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including percentages.
Proven ability to train and mentor team members.
Understanding of basic legal terminology. Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to effectively communicate and explain to all levels of attorneys and staff in the Firm.
Strong ability to take ownership and responsibility for projects or special assignments.
Solid initiative and independent judgment skills.
Ability to effectively handle multi-task assignments within the parameters of the job functions, and to perform in an environment of shifting turnaround deadlines.
Reliable, dependable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Excellent customer service orientation; positive and proactive manner.
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including to but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Document Management System.

Wage Transparency
The pay range for this remote position varies by location. Pursuant to the applicable state and local regulations the pay range for each location is listed below. Actual compensation is contingent on relevant experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses and the benefits described below.
Ogletree is a multi-state employer. The pay ranges listed reflect compensation for the specific location identified.
