Show job description

Infotech® is seeking a Sr. Platform Engineer who is passionate about building solutions that improve the continuous delivery of the web applications and services that build our nation's roads and infrastructure. If you are driving on a highway in North America, there is a good chance Infotech software was used to build it. 88% of state transportation agencies in the U.S. use Infotech-developed software to manage their road construction projects. How's that for impact?!

Who we are looking for

As a Sr. Platform Engineer, you will build and support the automated, self-service foundation that takes software from integration and testing through release, deployment, and ongoing operation. By administering cloud-based platforms, you'll serve as the liaison between engineers, IT, and external cloud providers, keeping deployments efficient, secure, and resilient.

What it's like to be an engineer on our Infrastructure Platform team

Our vision: We engineer intuitive, high-impact software designed to eliminate complexity and supercharge efficiency on the job site. We don't just build tools; we embed ourselves in the real-world challenges our customers face to pioneer elegant, intelligent solutions. Grounded in continuous discovery and driven by relentless iteration, we don't just adapt to the future of the industry, we actively build it, striving to deliver more value tomorrow than we do today.

Our culture: We may be biased, but we have some of the most talented and unique people on our team. We are:

  • Curious and innovative; every opinion is valued and all options are explored.
  • Creative and lively; what is work without a little bit of fun?
  • Informal and relaxed while also being ambitious and technically excellent.
  • Customer centric and solution oriented.
  • Collaborative; we are thorough in our projects and are here for each other.
  • Empowering and resourceful.
  • Highly energized, communicative, and supportive. We are a team.

What will you do in this role?

  • Partner with product engineering teams to design and deliver a scalable, highly available platform on AWS for our interdependent products and services.
  • Build and maintain reusable, self-service tooling and standardized environments that make it easier and faster for developers to build, test, and ship.
  • Automate CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning using scripting, Infrastructure as Code, and AWS services.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain consistent development, test, and production environments that use resources efficiently across all commercial products.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability so we can see issues early, respond to alerts quickly, and keep service delivery seamless.
  • Administer Linux-based systems and cloud networking, enforcing strong security across accounts, user permissions, and services.
  • Keep systems healthy through backups, regular updates, and security patching, and monitor for vulnerabilities and intrusion.
  • Identify risks in infrastructure designs and processes and communicate them to the right people, along with ideas for future improvement.
  • Create clear technical documentation, and share new platform capabilities with product teams.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call troubleshooting when needed.
