Job Summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Sr. Product Manager to join our world-class product management organization at our global headquarters in Santa Clara, CA (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote). This high-visibility role defines and executes the software lifecycle, upgrade automation, and platform reliability strategy for PAN-OS—the flagship operating system powering our Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) across physical hardware, virtual appliances, and cloud-delivered form factors.

In this role, you will lead the transformation of how thousands of global enterprises manage, update, and scale their security fleets. You will collaborate on-site with cross-functional engineering leads, centralized management platform teams (Panorama, Strata Cloud Manager), and enterprise operations to eliminate maintenance friction and advance our platformization vision.

Workplace Model

  • Workplace Arrangement: Hybrid (On-site 3 days per week at our Santa Clara, CA Headquarters; remote 2 days per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • PAN-OS Lifecycle Governance: Own the complete product lifecycle roadmap, including software release cadence, upgrade pathways, global version adoption curves, End-of-Life (EoL) timelines, and fleet health metrics.
  • Upgrade & Patching Automation: Partner with engineering and platform management teams (Panorama, Strata Cloud Manager) to streamline, automate, and accelerate patching and software rollouts.
  • Platform Reliability & Defect Reduction: Build proactive operational strategies to make software upgrades seamless, predictable, and non-disruptive, directly reducing customer-found defects and operational downtime.
  • Operational Tooling & "Shift-Left" Support: Equip enterprise customers, support, and field engineering with self-service tools, diagnostic telemetry, and proactive fleet insights to isolate and resolve operational anomalies rapidly.
  • Technical Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the core bridge between systems software engineering, customer success, product operations, and global customer advisory councils to drive high-stakes architectural decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Workplace Requirement: Ability to work on-site at our Santa Clara, CA Headquarters 3 days per week.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a technical domain such as Software Development, Release Management, Systems Engineering, or Technical Product Management.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Enterprise Systems & Operations: Proven experience managing large-scale network appliances, enterprise infrastructure, or complex distributed software deployment and upgrade cycles.
  • Networking & Security Fundamentals: Solid foundational understanding of enterprise networking, routing, switching, and firewall architecture.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Demonstrated ability to build alignment and influence technical roadmaps across distributed software engineering teams, field organizations, and enterprise customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior product management experience (Technical PM, Platform PM, or Inbound PM) within enterprise infrastructure, operating systems, or cybersecurity.
  • Architectural familiarity with PAN-OS, Panorama, or firewall virtualization form factors (e.g., VM-Series, CN-Series).
  • Hands-on exposure to fleet telemetry, observability platforms, or automated CI/CD release pipelines at scale.
