In this role, you will help shape our civil engineering services, develop client relationships, build a team, and lead successful project delivery. You will bring an established book of business and work closely with firm leadership and our experienced utility team to identify opportunities, pursue new work, and grow a sustainable civil engineering practice.
In this role you will:

- Lead delivery of civil site development and utility infrastructure projects, directing technical teams responsible for grading, drainage, erosion control, water distribution, sanitary sewer, and related site improvements.
- Oversee preparation of construction plans, specifications, analyses, and bidding documents; guide technical decisions and coordinate resolution of complex project issues.
- Provide QA/QC for technical accuracy, constructability, coordination, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
- Manage projects from scoping and proposal development through design, bidding, construction administration, and closeout.
- Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables; monitor project financial performance and address scope changes and additional service needs.
- Serve as the primary client contact, manage expectations, lead project meetings, and communicate project status and decisions.
- Coordinate engineers, designers, other disciplines, external consultants, site design professionals, and permitting specialists.
- Bring and develop an established book of business; build client relationships, identify opportunities, and pursue new and repeat work aligned with the firm’s capabilities.
- Lead proposal and fee development, support contract negotiations, and partner with firm leadership to define civil services, establish growth priorities, identify staffing needs, and help recruit and develop the team.
- Mentor Engineers, Project Engineers, and Designers; provide technical guidance, review work, and support professional development.
- Conduct site visits and construction observations, respond to construction questions, and help resolve field issues.
In this role you will need:
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
- A Professional Engineer license, with the ability to obtain Wisconsin licensure if not already licensed in Wisconsin.
- 10 or more years of progressive civil engineering experience, including management of civil, municipal, site development, or utility infrastructure projects and responsibility for client relationships and project delivery.
- An established book of business and demonstrated success generating work through client relationships, business development, and repeat engagements.
- Experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, financial performance, proposals, and client communication.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams, mentor technical staff, and help build a growing practice, supported by strong technical judgment, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel for client meetings, site visits, and team coordination, including occasional overnight travel as needed.
- Technical experience in site development and redevelopment, utility layout and analysis, grading, drainage, erosion control, water supply and distribution, and sanitary sewer and wastewater collection.
- Working knowledge of applicable civil engineering design standards, municipal requirements, and site and utility permitting processes.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project budget and schedule tracking tools.
