Compensation
The compensation target for this role is: $114,800 - $135,000Job Summary
This is a hybrid position with a combination of remote work and onsite work at our HQ in Draper, Utah with the work arrangement determined by business needs.Purple is building its next generation of products, and how we bring products to market matters as much as what we build. We're looking for a Senior Project Manager to drive the New Product Introduction (NPI) process from concept to commercialization for our GelFlex® Grid comfort products.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Product, you'll drive the process execution across Product Management, Development, Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, Operations, and Marketing. In addition to owning new product timelines, you'll own and optimize the process itself: making stages, decisions, communication, status reports, and handoffs crystal clear, refining systems and putting automation to work so teams spend less time chasing status and more time innovating.
If you love building the system as much as running it, and you want to see your work in products that help improve people's lives, this role is for you.
Job Description
How you’ll shape the future of comfort:
- Drive NPI end to end. Own integrated plans for new products from concept to commercialization, including milestones, dependencies, critical path, launch timing. Turn Product Management's product goals into timelines, tasks and plans every team can commit to.
- Own and refine our stage-gate process. Further refine clear gate criteria, documentation, deliverables, and decision rights so every team knows what "done" looks like at each phase. Keep the process as streamlined as possible and as thorough as necessary.
- Drive builds and launch readiness. Coordinate prototype, and production-validation builds with Product, Development, Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and Manufacturing. Manage RTS (ready to ship) dates, and keep go-to-market plans in lockstep.
- See risk early and act fast. Surface schedule risks before they become problems. Lead trade-off discussions and escalate with clear options and a recommendation.
- Make the process frictionless with automation. Find and implement tools and automations that eliminate manual status-chasing and reporting, such as auto-generated status summaries, meeting notes turned into action items, and early risk flags. Champion adoption across the team.
- Make every launch better than the last. Lead post-launch retrospectives and turn lessons learned into templates, playbooks, and standards that speed up the next launch.
- Create a single source of truth. Build dashboards and KPIs (gate on-time rate, schedule variance, development cycle time, launch readiness) and deliver concise, updates to senior leadership highlighting achievements, challenges, and actionable insights.
What we’re looking for
- 7+ years of project or program management experience, including 5+ years leading NPI for physical, manufactured products (consumer products, durable goods, hardware, or similar).
- A track record of launching multiple products from concept through production, working directly with product, development, manufacturing, marketing, sourcing, sales and leadership when needed.
- Hands-on experience running or refining a stage-gate (phase-gate) development process, and the judgment to know when to add structure and when to cut it.
- Proven results improving how work gets done, such as measurable reductions in cycle time, rework, or launch delays.
- Fluency with JIRA and leveraging tools for automation, plus the curiosity to keep improving and teach others about the optimizations.
- Exceptional communication: you drive decisions across a matrix and give crisp, honest updates.
- Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, business, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Even Better if:
- PMP or Lean / Six Sigma certification.
- Experience in sleep, furniture, textiles, foam, or other soft-goods manufacturing.
- Experience building automated workflows (e.g., Jira automation, Power Automate, Zapier, or custom AI assistants).
- Omni-channel launch experience across DTC e-commerce, showrooms, and wholesale retail partners.
- Experience in a growing or transforming organization.
