Is this job info correct?

This isn't a traditional Asset Protection or Risk Management role. VCA is building a new field-facing Value Protection capability designed to bring together the best of Asset Protection, operational risk, investigations, and business performance. The Senior Regional Risk Manager (Division Asset & Loss Prevention) is a senior field people leader responsible for translating VCA's enterprise Value Protection, Field Risk & Performance strategy into consistent execution and measurable results across an assigned geography. The role leads and develops a geographically dispersed team of Regional Risk Managers, establishes regional priorities and operating cadence, and serves as the principal Value Protection advisor to Group, Regional and Hospital Leadership. This position requires an uncommon combination of deep technical expertise in enterprise risk, operational assurance, investigations, compliance, safety and crisis response; strong business and financial acumen; and demonstrated success leading through others in complex, multi-site operations. The Senior Regional Risk Manager uses operational and financial data to identify and prioritize revenue integrity, charge capture, margin protection, loss reduction and execution-consistency opportunities while preserving the foundational risk disciplines that protect associates, clients, pets and the business. Within the enterprise operating model, the Senior Regional Risk Manager owns regional deployment and performance of established Value Protection programs, leads complex regional matters and escalations, and provides field intelligence and recommendations to the Senior Director and Field Leadership executives to inform enterprise strategy, standards, technology, analytics and future capability development. This role requires associates to work remotely on the coast for which they will be supporting (West Coast and East Coast) and will require travel up to 50% of the time. Essential Responsibility/Tasks: Lead, coach and develop a geographically dispersed team of Regional Risk Managers, including selection, onboarding, goal setting, work allocation, performance management, career development, succession planning and reinforcement of consistent professional standards. Translate enterprise Value Protection, Field Risk & Performance strategy into regional priorities, annual plans and operating cadences; establish clear accountability and monitor execution across assigned regions and hospitals. Serve as the principal regional Value Protection advisor to Group Vice Presidents, Regional Operations Directors and other senior field leaders, providing independent, practical guidance on complex risk, operational and business-performance matters. Direct and quality-assure regional field assessments, operational assurance reviews, audits and corrective-action plans involving controlled substances, safety, waste management, invoicing, revenue integrity, physical security, business controls and other priority risks. Oversee and provide escalation leadership for complex, sensitive or high-impact investigations involving financial loss, misconduct, diversion, compliance concerns, associate safety or operational breakdowns; ensure sound case strategy, documentation, findings and corrective action. Partner with Operations, Finance and Medical Operations to analyze operational and financial data, identify root causes and prioritize opportunities involving charge capture, revenue integrity, margin leakage, markdowns, ancillary services, process variation and execution consistency. Lead regional implementation, adoption and sustained follow-through of enterprise risk, compliance, safety, operational assurance and performance initiatives; remove execution barriers and ensure programs achieve intended business outcomes. Develop and lead regional performance reviews using dashboards, exception reporting, trend analysis and field intelligence; communicate material findings, emerging risks and recommended actions to senior leadership. Build trusted cross-functional partnerships with P&O, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Medical Operations, Safety, Insurance and other enterprise teams to coordinate decisions, resolve escalated issues and deliver integrated field solutions. Lead or coordinate regional response to significant incidents, crises, disasters and business disruptions, including decision support, field deployment, recovery oversight and after-action improvement. Identify capability gaps and recommend improvements to enterprise policy, process, systems, analytics, training and operating models; sponsor or support pilots as assigned and provide structured feedback to the Senior Director. Maintain appropriate governance, confidentiality and quality across regional case management, reporting, records and compliance documentation; ensure timely escalation of material matters. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Criminal Justice, Safety, Healthcare Administration or a related field. Master's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Finance, Organizational Leadership or a related discipline is preferred. Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience spanning multi-site risk management, operations, compliance, investigations, safety, asset protection, operational assurance or business-performance leadership, including at least 3 years of direct people leadership or significant accountability for delivering results through others. Demonstrated experience advising senior field leaders and managing complex matters across a broad geography is required. Twelve or more years of relevant experience preferred, including leadership of Regional Risk Managers or comparable field professionals in veterinary, healthcare, retail or another complex multi-site service environment. Prior ownership of regional programs and demonstrated delivery of measurable financial, operational and risk-reduction outcomes strongly preferred. CPP, CFE, ARM, CRM, CSP, WZ, Lean/Six Sigma, change-management or other relevant professional certification is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, case management and reporting tools; ability to interpret dashboards and operational data is required. Experience with PowerBI or similar analytics platforms, workflow tools, and technology-enabled risk or performance solutions is preferred. Valid driver’s license; ability to travel approximately 50%, work independently across assigned markets and respond to urgent matters when needed is required. Experience building or materially evolving field capabilities, leading crisis or business-continuity response, and implementing enterprise programs in a decentralized operating environment is preferred. *All degrees will be deemed “or equivalent combination of education and experience” unless absolutely required to do the job (i.e., DVM degree for Veterinarian, Law degree for Attorney, etc.). PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Exceptional business and financial acumen, including demonstrated ability to interpret operating statements, performance metrics and exception data and connect risk priorities to revenue integrity, margin protection, loss reduction and operational outcomes. Deep, broad technical expertise across enterprise risk management, operational assurance, complex investigations, compliance, controlled substances, safety, physical security, crisis response and business continuity in a multi-site environment. Proven people leadership of geographically dispersed professionals, including hiring, coaching, performance management, talent development, succession planning and delivery of results through others. Demonstrated credibility advising senior operational leaders, constructively challenging decisions and influencing action without relying solely on positional authority. Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability, including root-cause analysis, prioritization of competing risks and opportunities, development of business cases and conversion of complex findings into practical action. Strong executive communication, facilitation and presentation skills, with the judgment and discretion required for sensitive, ambiguous and high-pressure matters. Demonstrated change leadership and program implementation across multiple markets, with disciplined governance, project management, follow-through and measurable outcome orientation. Ability to balance medical excellence, operational realities, associate and client experience, regulatory obligations and financial stewardship when recommending solutions.
