Position Overview
The Sr. Security Designer is a senior-level contributor responsible for leading the planning, design, and documentation of complex electronic security systems — including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, perimeter detection, and integrated security management platforms. This role carries ownership of full-cycle design deliverables across multiple concurrent projects and serves as a technical resource for internal teams and clients alike. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and consultants, the Sr. Security Designer brings deep technical expertise and professional judgment to translate client security requirements into high-quality system designs, specifications, and construction documents. This role is also expected to contribute to design standards, mentor junior staff, and support business development efforts as needed.
Location:
This is a remote position, however candidates must be located in the Eastern or Central Time Zones to be considered, no exceptions.
Responsibilities:
System Design & Documentation
- Lead the development of detailed designs, schematics, riser diagrams, and system layouts for electronic security systems across diverse project types and markets.
- Produce complete construction drawing packages, specifications, and technical submittals that meet project requirements and client standards.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Maintain a high standard of design quality and consistency across the full project portfolio.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert on electronic security systems for internal project teams and clients.
- Evaluate and select appropriate security technologies, equipment, and vendors based on project requirements and best-value analysis.
- Conduct and lead site surveys to verify existing conditions and inform design decisions.
- Lead integration coordination between electronic security systems and related disciplines (IT, AV, BMS, low voltage).
- Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design intent and applicable standards.
Project Collaboration
- Partner with project managers, engineers, and consultants to align technical design with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Participate in and lead coordination meetings with internal teams, architects, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical input during project scoping, design development, and construction administration phases.
- Support client relationships through technical responsiveness and professional delivery.
Quality, Standards & Growth
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Faith Group design standards, templates, and best practices.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers and supporting staff.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, manufacturer offerings, and industry trends in physical security.
- Support business development activities including proposal contributions, scope development, and client presentations as needed.
- Ensure accurate and complete as-built documentation at project closeout.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in electronic security systems design, with a demonstrated track record on complex, multi-discipline projects.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Security Technology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience considered.
- PSP (ASIS Physical Security Professional), CPP (ASIS Certified Protection Professional) a plus.
- Advanced proficiency with design software (AutoCAD required; Revit/BIM strongly preferred).
- Deep familiarity with security technologies including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, perimeter systems, PSIM, and VMS platforms.
- Strong understanding of IT networks, cabling infrastructure, and system integration across disciplines (IT, AV, BMS).
- Working knowledge of applicable industry standards (UL, NFPA, BICSI, ASIS).
- Ability to independently manage complex design packages from concept through construction administration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting technical content to clients and stakeholders.
- Experience working in a consulting or engineering environment preferred.
