Sr. Software Engineer

About the Role
We’re growing our engineering team to build the next stage of our platform: new tools for designers, deeper connections with suppliers, and AI that makes everyday work simpler. You’ll own customer problems from discovery through to delivery. That means understanding how designers work, shaping solutions with Product and Design, shipping them, and learning from what happens next. You’ll also help improve how we build: our tooling, our processes, and the ways AI can help the whole team contribute to the product.


What You'll Do

• Own features end to end. Work with Product and Design to understand the problem, explore options, define scope, and take features through development, testing and release.

• Get close to our customers. Test ideas with our CX team, who are designers themselves, and build an understanding of the workflows our product supports.

• Build across the platform. Develop our designer tools, supplier integrations and trade portal, including work that supports our expansion in the US.

• Put AI to work. Use AI coding tools in your own workflow and help build useful AI features into the product. You’ll also contribute to the systems that let designers and product managers make product changes safely.

• Improve the engineering environment. Find friction in our codebase, deployment pipelines and development tools, and take the initiative to fix it.

• Help shape the work. Contribute to planning, technical decisions, demos and retrospectives. Follow through after release to understand what’s working and what needs another pass.

About You

• Strong Rails experience. You’ve built and maintained production applications with Ruby on Rails and are comfortable working across the frontend and backend. You understand testing, background jobs, performance and the practical challenges of scaling an application.

• Product judgement. You ask questions, understand the customer’s problem, and can explain why a solution is worth building. You’re comfortable making trade-offs and adjusting as you learn.

• Ownership and initiative. You can take an ambiguous problem, bring the right people into the conversation, and move it forward. When something needs improving, you act on it.

• Curiosity about AI. You’re keen to experiment with AI coding tools and automation, learn what works, and bring sound engineering judgement to how they’re used.

• Clear communication. You share context, make decisions understandable, and help the people around you do better work.
  

Our Stack
Ruby on Rails, Hotwire, Stimulus and Tailwind, with RSpec for testing, Redis and Sidekiq for background processing, and AWS infrastructure.


Nice to Have

• Experience building AI features such as search, recommendations, copilots or assisted workflows.

• Hands-on experience with tools such as Claude or Cursor.

• Experience with AWS infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring or improving developer experience.

• Familiarity with Stripe, Python, Snowflake or dbt.

• Experience helping an engineering team and product grow through a scale-up phase.
