Join the CRO’s Securitization and Capital Markets Risks Oversight team, in the Senior Specialist, Financial Risk Oversight (Capital Markets) position. In this role, you will provide independent risk oversight of CMHC’s capital markets and investment activities, drawing on a strong understanding of both their commercial objectives and associated financial risks. You will act as a subject matter expert in areas such as investments (including pension fund and corporate assets), market risk, liquidity risk, capital adequacy, asset-liability management, and counterparty credit risk. This will often require abstract thinking and creating innovative solutions, for example, analysis, templates, etc., where none currently exist. What you’ll do:
- Conduct independent oversight to ensure CMHC’s financial risk management and controls are robust and effective.
- Identify, assess, measure, monitor and report on key current and emerging financial risks to the Corporation.
- Employ tools, models, and assessment techniques, including financial statement analysis, data analysis and external environment scanning to assess and measure risk exposure relative to risk appetite and build and maintain forward looking capabilities.
- Develop clear presentations, memos and risk reports synthesizing capital markets and investment matters into key messages and actionable recommendations. Present findings confidently to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide support and guidance on risk management frameworks and policies to ensure effective management of risks and controls.
- Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making and develop innovative solutions to complex problems to present to senior management.
- Collaborate with Risk, Business and Finance functions to deliver high-quality outcomes within established accountabilities and timelines.
- Be up to date on regulatory guidance and industry-leading practices, assessing and incorporating them for elevating the quality of risk oversight.
What you should have:
- A degree in finance, accounting, economics or business.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in capital markets risk management and risk oversight and reporting or related relevant experience.

- Superior communication and presentation skills with demonstrated expertise in articulating complex concepts to various levels of stakeholders.
- A demonstrated ability to receive and incorporate feedback, align with leadership direction and team priorities, and independently deliver agreed outcomes.
- Bloomberg experience.
It would be great if you also had:
- A professional designation, certification and/or specific training in risk management or financial analysis (e.g., Chartered Financial Analyst, Professional/Certified Risk Manager, Financial Risk Management, Chartered Professional Accountant).
- An experience using quantitative and qualitative techniques, including stress testing, scenario analysis, financial modelling, portfolio analytics or data analysis, to assess current and emerging financial risks. Python and SQL experience.
