Sr. Workforce Intelligence Analyst
Business Intelligence and AI-Enabled Self-Service
About the Role
McKesson's Workforce Intelligence team transforms workforce data into clear, trusted insights that help leaders make better decisions. We combine high-quality business intelligence, thoughtful analysis, and practical technology enablement to make workforce information easier to access, understand, and use.
As a Senior Workforce Intelligence Analyst, you will design and deliver visualization, reporting solutions, data products, and decision-ready insights across key workforce topics. You will translate business needs into intuitive analytical experiences, connect and model data, define meaningful metrics, and help stakeholders confidently interpret and act on workforce information.
You will use approved AI capabilities to improve the speed, quality, and accessibility of BI work, and you will help build agentic and conversational solutions that enable responsible self-service for defined Workforce Intelligence use cases. When advanced data science is appropriate, you will partner with data science, technology, privacy, legal, and governance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence and Reporting
· Design, develop, and maintain intuitive dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data products using Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms.
· Translate business questions into clear analytical requirements, data models, measures, visualizations, and user experiences.
· Build scalable, reusable reporting solutions that balance enterprise consistency with the needs of specific stakeholder groups.
· Analyze workforce data to identify meaningful trends, patterns, relationships, and opportunities across topics such as workforce composition, talent movement, retention, recruiting, engagement, and organizational health.
· Develop concise narratives and recommendations that connect analytical findings to business decisions and actions.
· Continuously improve reporting solutions based on user feedback, adoption, changing priorities, and evolving business needs.
Data Preparation, Modeling, and Quality
· Combine and transform data from multiple HR and business sources into reliable datasets for analysis and reporting.
· Develop and maintain semantic models, calculations, metric definitions, and reporting logic that support consistent interpretation of workforce information.
· Write and optimize SQL queries and use appropriate data preparation tools to support reporting and analysis.
· Validate data, investigate discrepancies, document business rules, and partner with data owners to resolve quality issues.
· Apply data governance, privacy, security, and access requirements throughout the design and delivery of workforce intelligence products.
· Maintain clear documentation for data sources, definitions, transformations, assumptions, and known limitations.
AI-Enabled Productivity and Self-Service
· Use approved AI assistants to support activities such as requirements synthesis, code development, documentation, quality checks, insight summarization, and content refinement, with appropriate human review.
· Design and help build agentic, conversational, or natural-language solutions that enable users to access and navigate approved Workforce Intelligence content and use cases through self-service.
· Ground AI-enabled experiences in governed data, approved metrics, curated knowledge, role-based access, and clear business rules.
· Partner with product, data, technology, security, privacy, legal, and governance teams to test and operationalize AI-enabled self-service solutions responsibly.
· Evaluate AI-enabled experiences for usefulness, accuracy, transparency, adoption, and appropriate escalation to human experts.
· Help users understand the appropriate application and limitations of AI-supported insights. Advanced modeling and machine learning development will be completed in partnership with specialized teams when needed.
Stakeholder Partnership and Insight Delivery
· Partner with Workforce Intelligence consultants, HR partners, and business stakeholders to clarify needs, frame business questions, and prioritize analytical work.
· Facilitate discovery sessions, define success criteria, and convert broad requests into practical BI solutions.
· Present complex information in a clear, concise, and actionable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Enable stakeholders to use dashboards and self-service tools effectively through demonstrations, documentation, and targeted education.
· Build trusted relationships by setting clear expectations, communicating tradeoffs, and delivering high-quality work.
Continuous Improvement and Team Contribution
· Stay current on business intelligence, data visualization, analytics engineering, and responsible AI practices relevant to Workforce Intelligence.
· Identify opportunities to simplify recurring work, automate manual processes, improve user experience, and increase adoption of existing products.
· Contribute to standards and reusable practices for dashboard design, metric development, documentation, quality assurance, and AI-enabled self-service.
· Provide guidance and peer support to analysts and contribute to a collaborative, curious, and delivery-focused team culture.
· Support proofs of concept for new BI and agentic capabilities, with an emphasis on practical value, responsible use, and sustainable ownership.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Information Systems, Mathematics, Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
· Minimum of 7 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, data analysis, analytics engineering, or a related role.
· Experience developing analytical products for HR, Workforce Intelligence, people analytics, or another business function with complex and sensitive data is strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate needs into adopted reporting or self-service solutions.
Required Technical and Analytical Skills
· Advanced proficiency in Power BI or a comparable BI platform, including dashboard development, data modeling, calculations, visualization, and publishing.
· Strong SQL skills and experience preparing, joining, transforming, and validating data from multiple sources.
· Experience designing semantic models, reusable measures, governed datasets, and scalable reporting solutions.
· Strong understanding of data visualization, user-centered dashboard design, analytical storytelling, and self-service BI principles.
· Ability to analyze complex data, distinguish signal from noise, identify limitations, and develop clear, evidence-based insights.
· Working knowledge of data quality, metadata, governance, privacy, security, and role-based access practices.
· Comfort using approved AI tools to support productivity and analytical workflows, with sound judgment and human validation.
Workforce Intelligence and Business Skills
· Understanding of workforce metrics, HR data, talent processes, and the decisions supported by workforce intelligence.
· Ability to frame ambiguous business questions, define useful measures, and recommend an appropriate analytical approach.
· Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to explain data and technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
· Strong collaboration, consulting, prioritization, and project management skills.
· High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to reliable, responsible, and decision-useful analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or comparable analytics and data preparation tools.
· Experience with HR systems and data sources such as Workday, employee listening platforms, or recruiting systems.
· Experience designing or supporting conversational analytics, AI agents, natural-language query, retrieval-augmented generation, or other governed self-service experiences.
· Working knowledge of Python or R for data preparation, automation, or exploratory analysis.
· Experience supporting product adoption, user enablement, or analytics product management.
Role Emphasis
This role is best suited for an experienced BI professional who can turn complex workforce data into trusted, intuitive, and actionable analytical products. Success will be measured by the quality, usability, adoption, and business value of the solutions delivered, including responsible AI-enabled self-service, rather than by the volume of machine learning models developed.
