Staff Accountant

Key Responsibilities Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and Balance Sheet analyses Perform bank, cash, intercompany, and payment platform reconciliations Support Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions Assist with cash flow forecasting and cash management activities Record, reconcile, and analyze payroll transactions Support budgeting, variance analysis, and commission calculations Assist with annual audits, tax reporting, and compliance requirements Maintain accurate accounting documentation, SOPs, and internal controls Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes Partner with finance leadership to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 2+ years of accounting experience Experience owning or directly supporting a full month-end close cycle Advanced experience with QuickBooks Online Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations, and financial reporting Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, including P&L and Balance Sheet reports Hands-on experience with journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications Experience with bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting Exposure to payroll accounting and cash flow forecasting Experience supporting audits and compliance activities Familiarity with automation tools, AI platforms, or process improvement initiatives Experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced business environment What Makes This Opportunity Unique High visibility role with direct exposure to executive leadership Opportunity to own critical accounting functions and drive process improvements Exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, cash management, and audit support Collaborative, remote-first work environment Significant career growth and professional development opportunities Ability to influence and modernize finance operations through technology and automation Work Environment Remote-first environment Must be able to travel to Manhattan approximately two times per month Fast-paced, collaborative, and highly accountable team culture If you are a detail-oriented accounting professional looking for a role that combines traditional accounting responsibilities with process improvement and innovation, we encourage you to apply. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
