Benefits & Compensation EGA offers a competitive pay rate and a robust benefits package. The annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000. The actual starting pay will depend on the selected candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location. Job Summary We are looking for a Staff Accountant who is detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, and ready to take ownership. Why This Role Matters The Staff Accountant will serve as the primary owner of the accounts payable function while also supporting a broad range of accounting and financial activities. You will have the opportunity to work across accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, payroll accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, cost allocation, compliance, and audit support. Because EGA operates in the government contracting environment, this position offers the opportunity to develop valuable expertise in government contracting accounting and compliance—including GAAP, FAR/DCAA, VAAR, and Service Contract Act (SCA) requirements. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who doesn't simply complete transactions, but looks for ways to improve processes, strengthen controls, solve problems, and make accounting more efficient. What You’ll Do Own Accounts Payable Enter, post, and monitor accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, aging, and payment status. Create and maintain vendor and 1099 contractor profiles, purchase orders, and supporting documentation. Support 1099 compliance and annual filing activities. Prepare payment batches, including ACH, wire, and check runs, for Controller review and approval. Process employee expense reports and ensure compliance with company policies and government contract requirements. Support Accounting & Financial Operations Monitor bank accounts and accurately record related transactions. Prepare monthly bank and corporate credit card reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and resolve discrepancies. Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Perform account analysis and research discrepancies through resolution. Assist with periodic financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Support Government Contracting Compliance Review labor and non-labor costs for proper project charging and cost allocation. Help ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP, FAR/DCAA, VAAR, and other applicable government contracting requirements. Support compliance with Service Contract Act requirements. Prepare documentation and supporting schedules for internal and external audits. Support Payroll Accounting & Multi-State Compliance Review time entries and support payroll-related accounting activities. Reconcile payroll and benefit accounts. Coordinate with HR and payroll providers. Assist with multi-state payroll tax compliance and reporting. Support Company-Wide Compliance Monitor filing deadlines and maintain compliance calendars. Maintain business licenses and registrations. Manage state portal access. Coordinate with third-party compliance providers and registered agents. Improve the Way We Work Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies. Contribute to automation initiatives and help leverage existing technology to streamline accounting operations. What We’re Looking For We're looking for an accounting professional who is accurate, accountable, curious, and comfortable taking ownership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3–5 years of accounting experience. Basic understanding of GAAP, FAR/DCAA requirements, VAAR, and government contracting compliance. Strong Excel skills. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Unanet GovCon ERP or another government contracting ERP system. Experience with ADP, timekeeping systems, and expense management platforms. Experience supporting multi-state payroll and payroll tax compliance. Experience with business registrations and state compliance requirements. Familiarity with the Service Contract Act (SCA). Previous experience working for a government contractor.
