About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This is a hands-on role for someone with a strong technical accounting foundation who enjoys solving problems, working across multiple client accounts, and delivering accurate, timely financial information.

This person will report directly to an Accounting Manager and work closely with the accounting team to support day-to-day client needs. The role combines traditional bookkeeping responsibilities with more technical accounting work, including monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and troubleshooting accounting issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping across multiple client accounts.
  • Categorize and record transactions in QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Perform bank, credit card, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations.
  • Support monthly close processes and preparation of accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, depreciation, payroll adjustments, and other necessary entries.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting discrepancies and client-specific accounting issues.
  • Maintain accurate, organized financial records and support cleanup or historical accounting projects as needed.
  • Gather financial information and documentation for tax, advisory, and other client needs.
  • Communicate proactively with Accounting Managers and other team members to resolve questions, obtain missing information, and keep client work moving.
  • Manage multiple client accounts, priorities, and deadlines with a high level of accuracy and follow-through.
  • Assist with process documentation and improvements to accounting workflows and internal systems.
  • Take on additional accounting responsibilities and projects as directed by the Accounting Manager.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred. An associate degree or significant relevant accounting experience may be considered instead of a bachelor's degree.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and monthly close processes.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and comfort learning other cloud-based accounting platforms.
  • Ability to independently investigate and solve accounting problems rather than simply process transactions.
  • Strong reconciliation and journal-entry experience.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to confidently manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment while remaining highly collaborative with the team.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented, team-first mindset.

Experience with multi-entity businesses, sales tax compliance, certified payroll, insurance retainage, or other accounting platforms is a plus.

Compensation

$70,000–$80,000 annually based on a 40-hour workweek
