Join a High-Performing US Accounting Team

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable in the Philippines to join our growing accounting team and support the finance operations of a US-based company.

We are looking for an accounting professional who understands the full accounting cycle, can work independently, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable taking ownership of accounting processes.

The ideal candidate has experience working with US-based companies, understands US GAAP, and is confident communicating with US-based colleagues, vendors, and business stakeholders. CPA certification or equivalent professional accounting credentials are highly valued.

Compensation
  • Up to $3,000 USD per month, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
  • Premium compensation is available for candidates with strong US accounting experience, CPA/CMA credentials, QuickBooks expertise, and the ability to operate independently.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable
  • Manage the full AP cycle from invoice receipt through payment.
  • Monitor and manage the AP inbox.
  • Review invoices for accuracy, proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate directly with vendors to resolve discrepancies and obtain required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records.
  • Prepare and review weekly AP aging.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready AP documentation.
  • Support annual 1099 preparation.
Reconciliations & Expense Management
  • Perform daily bank transaction reconciliations.
  • Reconcile employee credit card transactions and expenses.
  • Review transactions for appropriate coding and approvals.
  • Follow up with employees and stakeholders on outstanding documentation.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
  • Reconcile data transferred between systems.
Month-End Close & General Accounting
  • Assist with monthly close activities.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare supporting schedules.
  • Assist with accruals and prepaid expense accounting.
  • Support preparation and review of P&L and balance sheet reports.
  • Assist with accounting analysis and special projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.


Qualifications and Experience

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting US-based companies.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and US accounting practices.
  • Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience.
  • Strong AP and general ledger knowledge.
  • Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting month-end close.
  • Understanding of accruals, prepaid expenses, and supporting schedules.
  • Strong understanding of chart of accounts and GL coding.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership.
  • Ability to work US Eastern Time (ET) hours.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Philippine CPA license.
  • Experience working directly with US companies or US accounting firms.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with US GAAP financial reporting.
  • Experience with US month-end close.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Experience with Bill.com, Ramp, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing or high-volume environment.
  • A track record of improving accounting processes rather than simply following them.
BIR Compliance

This position is structured as an independent contractor engagement in the Philippines. Candidates must be able to comply with applicable Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requirements and provide the appropriate registration and tax documentation required for independent contractor engagement.

Working Hours

US Eastern Time (ET). Candidates must be comfortable maintaining consistent working hours aligned with the US team.
