As a Staff Accountant at LSWG, you will be exposed to a wide range of diversified accounting and tax assignments under the guidance and supervision of experienced professionals. A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, and experience with CCH Engagement® and Axess® is considered a plus. Essential Functions of the Staff Accountant: Record transactions in ledgers, prepare trial balances, and generate simple financial statements using computer software programs. Reconcile accounts to control accounts for accurate financial reporting. Perform schedule computations for accruals, property and equipment, and calculate depreciation expenses. Carry out audit or review procedures as assigned by supervisors. Prepare payroll tax, sales tax, local tax, and certain personal income tax returns. Assist in proofing financial statements, tax returns, and other documents to ensure accuracy and quality. Undertake additional accounting, auditing, and tax duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel. Other Functions: May be entrusted with senior-level responsibilities such as planning and scheduling engagements. May be required to perform all phases of an engagement, including report writing and tax return preparation. May provide supervision and guidance to other staff accountants. Actively contribute to firm marketing efforts by joining and participating in civic organizations, attending firm-sponsored seminars, writing articles for publication, and identifying opportunities for additional client services and reporting. Working Conditions: Frequent same-day travel may be necessary to work at client offices, attend meetings, and seminars using a personal vehicle. Occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stays may be required for work at clients, meetings, or seminars using a personal vehicle. Overtime work required throughout the year, with heavy workload from January to April 15th – due to tax season – possibly exceeding 55 hours per week during this period. Education, Experience, and Skills Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting Proficiency in computer usage, spreadsheet software programs, and calculator operations. Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles and personal income taxes. Possession of a current and valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred, or actively working towards obtaining the license by successfully completing the applicable state CPA exam. Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects.
